CSP is closed for all students and staff on Wednesday, May 31, to allow the staff to celebrate at the Commencement ceremony for the Class of 2023.

Regular school hours resume on June 1.

This is an all-day event for students with activities, games, and food trucks (will cost $). More information to follow.

Please note: Any students who have 3 or more missing assignments in a class will spend the first half of the day in study hall in order to make up any missing work.

Dear 8th Grade Families,

We are so excited to celebrate with you as your 8th Grade student graduates from middle school in just three short weeks! The Middle School Student Council would like to invite your student to attend the "Midnight Masquerade" themed 8th Grade Dance on Thursday, June 8th, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The event is semi-formal, so we encourage students to wear a nice outfit that helps them look and feel their very best! Tickets will be sold for $8 each during "B" lunch beginning on Monday, June 5th. Exact change is appreciated, if possible.

To help keep ticket prices low, we have created an Amazon Wishlist for decorations and party supplies, as well as a Sign-Up Genius for Food/Beverage Donations and Volunteer Opportunities. We are so grateful for the incredible community here at CSP and appreciate any support you can provide as we prepare to celebrate your student's accomplishments!

Hello Families!

On Friday, June 9th, from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm, CSP will host our annual CultureFest-- a night where we celebrate culture and our rich diversity.

We welcome all to the event and encourage student and family participation. In addition to working on classroom projects, we invite students to volunteer to showcase their talents with performances, and we welcome families to host informational culture booths or contribute food dishes (ingredients must be listed).

The 23/24 School Year CSP Varsity Golf Team is forming. We will begin competing in the AACPS Golf Tournaments in mid-August. High school students or 8th-grade students who are progressing to 9th and are interested in learning and playing on our CSP Golf Squad should see Coach McQuaid in Room 202 or Coach Smith in the Gym. We would like to finalize summer training plans and squad practices for August prior to the 9th of June. Parents can contact Coach McQuaid at BMcQuaid@MyCSP.Org

The Class of 2024 will have their senior portraits done on June 26 at CSP in the gymnasium.

Please do not drop students off before 8:00 am as they cannot enter the building until this time.

All students should be picked up by 3:15 pm unless they are participating in an after-school activity.

• Please review the drop-off and pick-up procedures at the link below. Parents are not following the correct protocols in place, and it is creating a safety hazard for students and staff.

Please make sure you are checking in using the Pikmykid app. Share this with whoever may be picking up your child.

If your student consumes school lunch, please check their account balance. We currently have a deficit totaling $4700.00. CSP is responsible for the outstanding balance if the accounts are not brought current.

Paying this balance requires that we shift funds from the instructional program, which will have a negative impact on the school as a whole.

There are no available student parking spaces on campus. If your student recently acquired their driver's license and planned to drive to school, they are not permitted to park at the adjacent businesses. The property managers of each privately owned business have contacted us to share that they will tow any unauthorized vehicle. Parking on their property creates liability issues. We do not want to ruin our relationship with our neighbors. Students are permitted to park on the street if there are available parking spaces.

Due to an increase in students not being in assigned areas during the ROAR period, we are implementing the following changes immediately.

• Students must sign up for Content Support no later than 8:30 the morning of that day’s scheduled content support.

• Students will not be permitted to first go to a club and then leave out for content support.

• Students will not be permitted to leave content support to attend their clubs.

• Students are not permitted to bring their personal laptops to school.

• The use of personal devices (laptops) is a security risk and has already created an issue with our server.

• Students will not be allowed to borrow our Chromebook should they leave theirs at home. The only exception is when testing is taking place.

• We currently have 160 seats filled out of 250 seats available. Please do not wait until the last minute to submit a completed contract.

• The transportation registration window opened on March 1, 2023

• Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis

• Current routes and stops are not guaranteed for the next school year.

• The sooner a paid contract is completed, the sooner the bus company can begin determining routes.

• The updated Transportation Contract was made available on 2/21/23 on the school’s website. MYCSP.ORG

• Please DO NOT contact the bus company.

We are in the final quarter of the 2022-2023 school year.

Please make sure that you are monitoring your student’s progress. You can accomplish this by monitoring the gradebook, BrightSpace, and contacting your student’s teachers. Please ensure your students are taking advantage of the academic support structures during the academic school day and after school hours. Please contact teachers if you observe the grade book has not been updated on a weekly basis.

Parents and Guardians,

If your child's doctor requests that educational forms, such as ADHD and Vanderbilt Scales, be completed by teachers, please reach out to your child's school counselor directly. Your child's counselor will distribute the forms to the requested teachers and then submit the completed forms directly to the doctor through a link or email provided by the doctor.

Please do not reach out to individual teachers with doctor's forms requests.

Hi CSP Parents, Please see below regarding details on Chesapeake Science Point's NO REPEAT policy. If you have questions and/or concerns regarding this matter, please reach out to your child's school counselor. CSP continues to provide a rigorous and quality education to all students. It has always been our goal to improve upon past practices, find new ways to engage students, and make learning something students enjoy. We also believe that high school students need to put forth that same effort in order to become successful adults; therefore, CSP is Repeat Free. If a student receives an E in a required high school course, the class will have to be repeated in an alternate program such as Summer School, Evening School, and Twilight School. These programs are available for students to make up credits in courses that they were not successful in the first time; classes at CSP are for students taking them for original credit. If a student does not make up the failed class in one of these alternative programs, there is a chance that we will not be able to schedule the student for the classes required for graduation and the student will have to take classes at CSP for more than four years.

Any student who wishes to receive high school credit for any dual credit AACC class they have taken must present an official transcript from AACC to their counselor. The Registrar’s Office at AACC can assist you with obtaining an official transcript. If you have any questions, please contact your counselor.

Hi Juniors & Seniors! It’s no secret that most college applications require you to submit your SAT or ACT score, making taking the exam an absolute must. In addition to it being a requirement, colleges and universities receive thousands of applications every year. The scores on the SAT and ACT allow them to narrow down the playing field and make decisions on acceptance. In addition to your college applications, your SAT and ACT scores can be used to apply for scholarships. These are sometimes merit based scholarships, granted directly from your choice of college during the application process. Others may be from local, state, or regional programs where your grades, academic achievements, and score affect your eligibility. We wanted to stress the importance of taking the SAT and/or ACT more than once. Studies show that students typically receive a higher score the second time they sit for the test. It would be most beneficial to take the SAT and/or ACT your junior year, then again your senior year. If you receive free or reduced lunch, you qualify for a fee waiver. The counselors have them available in their offices. See your counselor with any additional questions.
