Lindsey Update

We have many items in the lost and found. Jackets, hats, gloves, boots, vests, water bottles, etc. If your student is missing something you are welcome to come in to check the lost and found before spring break. Lost and found pictures Items will be donated during spring break.

Please make sure that all items are marked with your student's last name so they can be returned if they end up in the lost and found. Almost all of our items in the the lost and found do not have names on them.

Current Lindsey 4th graders (Beginning 5th Grade Band) Parent Meeting: Wednesday, 3/15/23 at 6:00pm at the WG High School Band Room.

Lindsey 5th Grade Band Concert: Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at 7:00pm at the WG Middle School gym.

Please remember that students cannot ride any other bus other than the one they are scheduled to ride. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

The form is open 4pm to 9:30 am daily. Please note that the last pickup for the school day is 2:45pm due to parking lot congestion with cars and busses. Please try to make it before 2:45pm, we appreciate your cooperation.

If you are going to pick your student up from school at the end of the day, you will need to fill out the Elementary Transportation Form with that information. You can find the form on the Elementary webpages under the "menu" icon and parent resources. Just look for the "Elementary Transportation Form," fill it out, and hit submit. Please make sure the form you are using has 22-23 school year at the top.

You will use this form for end-of-day transportation, as well as early release from the school. If you have any questions, please contact colleen.clucas@westg.org, and she can assist you.

Please make sure that if your child is bringing a cell phone or electronic watch to school that it is turned off during the day. Watches can be used for time purposes only during school hours. If these rules are abused the devices will be confiscated and will need to be picked up by the parent at the school office. If students need to contact parents during the day they can come to the school office for assistance. Thank you for your cooperation.

The seasons are changing. One day it's cold then hot, then raining and even snow is around the corner. Please make sure that your child is dressed appropriately. Everything students bring to school should be marked with their first and last name in case they get misplaced so we can return them to their owner. We appreciate your help with this. Students go outside when it's cold, so warm clothes are essential. If your child needs snow pants, boots, a hat, and/or gloves, please let the office now. We have extras on hand we can loan out for the season to stay at school.

Dress Code:

Please review the dress code with your family.

As the weather is changing we would like to remind you of dress codes standards at the elementary schools. The primary responsibility for school dress and grooming rests with the parents of our students. Clothing should be in good repair, neat, clean and free of large (and multiple) holes.

Footwear that damages school floors may not be worn. Shoes must be closed-toe, fit securely on feet, and protect feet during recess activities. High heels are not appropriate in the elementary setting.

Hats, caps, hoods or head covers of any kind are not to be worn in the building unless it is part of a classroom or school-sponsored event.

Shorts are allowed but must be appropriate and in good taste. Teacher and/or administrative discretion shall determine whether shorts are appropriate

Bare midriffs, tank tops, muscle shirts and transparent shirts, and spaghetti-strap tops are not permitted. Undergarments should not be visible. Revealing clothing is prohibited.

You can pay by check made payable to West Geauga Local Schools and send in to the office, or you can also pay online in Infinite Campus if that is more convenient for you.

Also, if you need the application for free and reduced lunches it can be found on Infinite Campus. Families who qualify also have reduced or no school fees.

The Lions Club is partnering with Very Good PIzza Company (formerly BadaBing) pizza in Chesterland to help raise money for the football program.

On the first Monday of every month they will donate 10% of their proceeds to our club. Their next fundraising day with be Monday, April 3, 2023.

Swine Creek Reservation

Visit Geauga Park District’s sugar house, sugarbush and lodge for a sweet taste of how maple sugaring methods have evolved from the Native American tradition to modern methods!

• Gather sap in the sugarbush with a horse-drawn sap sled, which steps off each day from behind the sugarhouse at 1 and 2 p.m.
• Experience the various methods used throughout history for tapping, gathering and boiling maple sap.
• See (and smell) sap boiling in the sugar house, then get a sample taste of the sweet stuff we’ve already made this season.
• Warm up in the new Swine Creek Lodge with free maple stirs, popcorn, maple sugaring artifact viewing and live music by Mr. Haney String Band (March 5), the Oak Island Skunk Jumpers (March 12), or The Real Deal String Band (March 19).
