eLearning and Student iPads
This is a friendly reminder that there is no school on Monday for students and Tuesday is an eLearning day for staff professional development purposes. Students will access their classwork via Canvas/Seesaw and can reach out to their teacher for additional support. We look forward to seeing students back on Wednesday.
In preparation for Tuesday, student devices & chargers are being sent home with all students today. Moving forward, devices will be sent home on a nightly basis with all students, providing additional technology access at home. As we prepare for devices to go home on a nightly basis, we need your help in making this transition is successful. Please be sure the following steps are taken each evening as you prepare your student for the next school day:
- Students should remain signed in to their Apple account
- iPad & keyboard is cleaned on a daily basis
- iPad is fully charged
- iPad & keyboard are placed in book bag each evening
We appreciate your support and help in preparing your student for success. As always, please reach out to your teacher for additional questions.

Teaching and Learning Emphasis
At Eastridge Elementary, we want our students to be strong readers! There are 5 major components to reading. I will be sharing information on each of the 5 components of reading over the next several weeks and activities you can do at home to help your student develop strong reading skills.
Last week we talked about Phonemic Awareness. Phonemic awareness is the ability to segment and manipulate the individual sounds in spoken words.
Before children learn to read print, they need to become aware of how the sounds in words work. They must understand that words are made up of individual speech sounds, or phonemes. Below are some articles and activities to try at home.
Next week we will focus on phonics. Click on the button below to view phonemic awareness games.
Update: Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer (P-EBT)
Important P-EBT Update - FSSA has updated its estimated issuance date to February 28, 2021, so you may hear from families who are concerned when they don't receive cards this week as expected. Please share the updated estimated issuance date of Feb. 28, 2021 with families in this week's newsletter, and with staff who may be fielding questions. I've attached P-EBT flyers that reflect the new date in English and Spanish (***Note: The FSSA flyers direct families to contact their school with questions). For more information, visit https://www.warren.k12.in.us/article/388678?org=msd-of-warren-township, which includes links to FSSA P-EBT webpage and FAQs.
