What is Earth Day?
“Earth Day”, is celebrated every year on the 22nd of April because a massive rally happened on this day in 1970 which brought 20 million Americans together to fight industry pollution, toxic dumping, pesticides and the countless mindless acts negatively impacting our environment. In remembrance of that day, we call it “Earth Day”.
Why do we celebrate Earth Day?
On this day we are finally beginning to understand the consequences of our actions and the impact they are having on our world. Wherever you look, nature is under assault and if we don’t take steps now to try and repair the damage, there might not be much of a world left for our children to pass onto theirs is we continue not to look after our Earth.
An organization that runs Earth Day?
“Earth Day Network” also known as EDN, is the world's largest environmental movement and there mission is to diversify, educate and activate the environmental movement worldwide. Since it’s starting EDN has registered over one million environmental voters. Also, EDN has planted hundreds of millions of trees in 32 countries since 2010. They also helped pass legislation that provided about $7 billion in grants to green low-income schools across the country
