Reflections from Pastor Jennifer

I believe that God planted the seed of His word within our hearts yesterday. The message regarding grief - that it can be good, that it is certainly necessary - is a message that was beneficial to me. I heard feedback from many of you that the Spirit ministered to you. Please remember that our brokenness does not repel God. He does not tap His foot and check His watch, wanting us to hurry up and get better. He is near to the broken hearted. He sits with us through any kind of grief we experience.

This month, please consider donating hair care products. If you want to get a jump on the final item, please bring a box or socks for the month of November. The final day for collection will be Sunday, Nov. 13. For anyone who wants to help pack the shoeboxes, we will do so on Wednesday, Nov. 16 at 7.

Joy Club

If you or your spouse are 60+, you are invited to join the Joy Club! The next meeting is Thursday, Oct 6. The meeting will begin at 6pm* (note the time change from 7 to 6), and a meal will be served.

Thanks Day

One of the highlights of our year is Thanks Day. This is a time to gather all the people we are thankful for into one place for worship and fellowship. November 20th is Thanks Day. Start inviting people today!

Community Fellowship Event

On Sunday, November 20th at 6pm there will be a community fellowship service at Grace Covenant Church. Many churches from Cornelius, Huntersville, and Charlotte will be in attendance. Just as David tells us in Psalm 133:1, "Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!", we too want to live that out. If you are able to attend, we would love to see you there.

The Gideons are coming!

In order to help us become more comfortable sharing our faith with others, we have invited a Gideon representative to provide some direction. The plan is to have two Wednesday night sessions - November 30 and December 7. This will be valuable preparation for each of us.

Christmas Activities

The Christmas season is always a busy one. That is why taking time to be in God's house is very important. Christmas day is on a Sunday, so we will take that day to spend with loved ones. But leading up to that point, we want to share the joy of the season together. Use these church services as a way to invite friends and family who do not often attend church.

Results from Planning Session

Thank you so much for spending extra time yesterday in our planning session! It was so encouraging to see everyone working together, sharing ideas, and looking forward to ministry in the months to come.

The next step will be to look over your notes to see any common ideas. If both groups mentioned the same ministry opportunity, we definitely want to implement that one. Some common threads I noticed were police/firefighter support, visiting the elderly (in nursing homes and/or shut-ins), and more phone contact.

These ideas demonstrate the ministry opportunities that you feel strongly about. As we look forward to planning for 2023, please know that you can claim a month at any time. If you want to head up a particular activity, please let me know. We will do our best to provide resources that are needed for success.
