Dear students, staff, and parents/guardians:

Today, our Student Council hosted the Fall Southeastern Massachusetts Association of Student Councils (SEMASC). Twenty six schools attended, and from all accounts it was a tremendous success. Thank you to Miss Mac and the entire Student Council for their hard work and committment to our school community!

Term 1 ends next Friday, November 3rd, and Report Cards will be issues on November 14th. We will hold parent/teacher conferences on Thursday, November 16th from 5-8 PM and Monday, November 20th from 4-6:30 PM. Conferences will be held by appointment only. An email from Lee Tobey, Assistant Principal, will be sent out on November 8th with sign up information. Parents/Guardians are welcome to sign up for a time slot with their student’s teachers on either night. There will not be a virtual option on these evenings.

The year is off to a good start in our World Language Department!

We have new software in our language lab this year and all teachers were trained on it during our October 6 Early Release Day. Most of our students have now used the lab to practice their speaking and listening and collaboration in the target language and their feedback on the new software has been very positive.

All of our language clubs are up and running. Spanish Club has had two meetings and is planning a trip to Snowport in Boston’s Seaport in December. See Mr. Sturges in room 1332 for details. The French club has been meeting and is planning a trip to the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, on Saturday, November 4 and will be joining the Spanish Club on the trip to Snowport in December. See Ms. Kwasnik in room 1333 for more information. Finally, the Latin Club is also up and running and is traveling to the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston after school, Friday, October 27. See Mr. Bakale in room 1317 for more information about the Latin Club.

Starting in November the Nurses will be conducting Postural Screenings for 9th grade only. If you would like to opt your student out, Please call the Health Office or email the nurse's

On Veterans Day, November 11th, at 11 AM there will be a service for our Walpole veterans downtown at the flagpole. All students and families are welcome and encouraged to support our veterans.

Class Dues

During Teacher/Parent Conferences in November, there will be information sessions for families of juniors about AP PreCalculus, which will be offered next school year. All students who have completed Algebra 2 can experience success in the course and potentially earn college credit. Students will receive information during their Algebra 2 class this month, and more details about the sessions will be upcoming.

The WHS Dance Company is returning for its 19th season this year in a reimagined fashion. If you are interested in dancing, choreographing, or developing your artistic process, come to our general interest meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 1st at 2:15 pm in Mr. Kim’s classroom #1133. Photography Club will meet on November 2, 2023. The theme is Halloween. Get those spooky pictures, pumpkins, ghosts, and skeletons and show us your best Halloween pictures. Photography Club meets every Thursday after school. It is open to any high school student. Thank you to all who came out for our annual Trunk-or-Treat fundraiser. Despite the rainy weather, it was a success. We look forward to doing it again next year so keep an eye out for information in September 2024.

The next meeting of the WHS UNICEF Club will be Thursday, November 2nd in room 2308 at 2:10pm. All are welcome!

The final deadline for the senior pages is the Senior Survey. This needs to be completed by the graduating senior.

If the senior wants to include activities, a memory, or a senior quote, they MUST complete the senior survey by November 10th.

There will be a Spanish Club meeting on Thursday, November 2nd after school in Room 1332.

The Walpole Speech and Debate Team meet every Monday right after school until 3 PM in room 2124. If you are interested in public speaking, acting, or debating, please come to a meeting or contact Mrs. Murray at emurray@walpole.k12.ma.us
