How many years have you been interested/involved in power exchange relationships?
I have been involved in D/s relationships and subsequently M/s relationships for over 20 years. I have been in a relationship with my slave since 2012.
How long have you been a MAsT member? What is your role(s) in MAsT?
I started attending MAsT DC Pan meetings in 2007. MAsT DC Pan was started by Master J in 2002. In 2012, I was asked to lead the chapter and have been the leader of MAsT DC Pan since then. I have also become a member of MAsT Gettysburg, Laurel Women, Metro NY, and Towson. Since 2021, I have served as Northeast Regional Representative for MAsT International. I serve on the Executive Committee of the Master/slave Conference, and am the director of MTTA Academy.
What benefits have you found being a member of MAsT?
I have found fellowship, friendships, and a great group of people I can learn and grow with. People I have met through MAsT are near and dear to my heart because they are giving and helpful, not just to me, but to so many in the MAsT communities. We are able to communicate openly and can be our own authentic selves.
What is a highlight in your power exchange journey?
One of the constant highlights is being able to guide my slave and to lead a cohesive family. Other important highlights for me are being presented with my vest, being covered by a panel of amazing women, and serving my community to the best of my ability.
What’s a low moment in your power exchange journey and how did you recover or what did you learn from it?
Over the years, we have had several challenging moments. Our determination to put the strength of the relationship first and foremost was the saving grace for us. One of the biggest challenges came when my slave realized he had been abused as a child and this opened up a plethora of feelings for him. We were able to work through them by talking, counseling, patience, and being there for each other.
What’s an interesting fact about you that most people don’t know?
Those outside my circle may not know that I was born and raised in Europe and that I am multilingual. One other fact is that I love J.S. Bach!
Do you have any advice for people new to power exchange relationships or new chapter directors?
For those new to power exchange relationships: be realistic with your expectations. Do not jump into relationships quickly and watch for red flags. Have a lot of conversations about needs and wants, deal breakers, honesty, and so much more. While a TPE relationship will greatly influence your life, you cannot become who you are not. Have the courage of your convictions and find the partner who will be the best fit for you. Find your local MAsT community and get involved.
As a new chapter director: Be prepared to do the work! Don’t be a lazy leader. Reach out to your chapter members and offer them support. If you have challenges leading your chapter, there are over 100 chapters who can support you.
What do you think it takes to be a successful leader in MAsT?
Communication with your chapter and the community at large. Get involved in events and offer to volunteer. Be a Master or slave in service.
What’s your favorite quote and why?
“Tenderness and kindness are not signs of weakness and despair, but manifestations of strength and resolution.” Khalil Gibran
This quote reminds me of the strength and patience it takes to master myself, my slave, and my family. Kindness is a great part of my being and one of my biggest strengths.
Anything else you’d like to add?
Use your strengths to help foster a sense of community across MAsT chapters. Network, be inclusive, extend grace to those who may need it. Don’t be afraid to reach out to others for advice or support.
