DES Updates
Here are a couple of updates as we head into week seven:
- Breakfast and Lunch Lines
- With the extra meals being served due to district-wide free breakfast and lunch, our kitchen and cafeteria staff have been hard at work to cut down on the amount of time students spend in line. Last week we tweaked lunch and recess times to provide more minutes in the cafeteria.
- This week we will add another protocol that we hope will shave off a few more minutes spent in line. Students will have ID cards that they will deposit in a basket as they exit the line instead of waiting for staff to look them up in the computer.
- One thing to keep in mind is that even if students do not finish their lunch by the end of their lunch period, we do have extra lunch tables for students to stay and finish.
- We are very proud of the way students have continued to show respect and make wise choices as they wait in line for meals! Keep up the good work, kiddos!
- Courageous Classroom: Skill of the Week
- We are looking to supplement our current Character Traits program with a skill of the week program. This provides lessons and activities for teachers to share during daily morning meetings to support students with social, emotional and behavior skills. Our staff and the Viking Advisory Team have both been looking the information over and providing feedback.
- Mrs. Love will share information on what this skill of the week program is at the board meeting on Monday evening. The board will not be voting on the purchase of this program at this time, but will be presented with information and have additional time to look into the program.
