Message from the Principal
Today was our Turkey Turnover Assembly. There was basketball, dancing, a scavenger hunt, and lots of laughs! The staff won the tournament, but the kids fought hard.
Take a moment this weekend to reflect on all the wonderful people we have in our lives. Enjoy the time with family and friends. And have another piece of pie!
Happy Thanksgiving!
November's Character Word is Cooperation!
How to Reinforce Cooperation at Home
Ask your kids to look for examples of cooperation around the house, on TV, or in a movie.
Behavior Expectations and Follow-through
Consistency is key for children as they grow up. We have done a lot of work here at the middle school to be sure our behavior expectations and our response to unwanted behavior is consistent. We will continue using our Hawk Vibes as our driving force.
In the rare instance that a student's behavior choices disrupt the learning of others, all teachers will follow these steps:
- Remind the student of the expectation.
- Give a verbal warning.
- Move the student to a different location in the classroom.
- Move the student to a buddy classroom to complete a Think Sheet.
Once a student completes a Think Sheet, which will provide time to reflect on the behavior, the student and a teacher will make a phone call home together. Please be patient as we work with the kids on how to make these calls. This is wonderful opportunity for students to practice their speaking and listening skills.
We are excited to put our work into practice and offer a consistent and reflective response to behavior.
Tardy Policy
When students are late to a class, the following process will be followed:
