A Message From Mrs. Caudill
This week I sat down with our assistant superintendent to look at student achievement data. There were some areas we wanted to look more closely at. I left that meeting with my head full trying to make a plan for school improvement. As I walked down the hall I had my instructional leader hat on thinking about what tweeks needed to happen. What happened next is exactly what I needed to remember that what is measurable is not the same as what is valuable.
I walked into a fifth grade classroom for a visit and at the same time they were going to the other class to do a brain break to a GoNoodle video. What I saw has brought me joy since then every time I think about it.
What I saw was 40 5th graders dancing and singing to an absolutely ridiculous song... and they were loving every second of it. Now, I have seen 1st graders do this, but this was a first with 5th grade. What I remembered in those moments of watching them is we will always strive for the high academic rigor, but school can be demanding which can lead to stress and burnout. Making sure our kids (of all ages) have fun throughout the day leads to stress reduction and also improves overall mental well-being. When we give our kids the chance to unwind and have fun, they return to their academic tasks refreshed, happy and ready to learn!
Stay well,
Mrs. Caudill
PS - Please enjoy Peanut Butter in a Cup and I hope you dance and sing this weekend too!

Halloween Happenings!
Halloween celebrations will happen at Amerman on Tuesday, October 31. We will be having parties that day. Students can either wear their costume to school or be able to put it on over their clothes to avoid congestion in the bathroom areas.
Please follow these guidelines when planning your child's costume:
- Please make sure the costume is weather appropriate (students will go outside for recess)
- Students are responsible for their costumes not causing a problem during learning time.
- Face makeup, hairspray, etc. must be applied at home.
- No fake weapons of any kind are allowed at school.
- No fake blood and no scary costumes (if it would scare a kindergartener, please don’t wear it!)
- Masks can only be worn during the parade if a student has a full range of vision. If it impedes their ability to see, it should not be worn
Halloween Parade - Tuesday, October 31 @ 10:00am
The parade route is highlighted below. Students will walk in the parade route on the sidewalk and part of the blacktop. Students will loop around the inside of the school for their classmates to see their costumes prior to heading outside.
Parents are invited to watch the outside parade. We ask that parents line the parade route by standing in the grassy areas or along the woodchips area of the playground. Please stay clear of the sidewalk and playground blacktop where students will be walking. Please note in case of inclement weather, the outside parade will be cancelled.

IB Lunch & Learn, K-5 parents
K-5 Parents/Guardians - Please join us on November 28th, 12:00 at Northville High School for a Lunch & Learn focused on our International Baccalaureate Programme in Northville Schools.
