PEAR Tip of the Week
Here's this week's tip, we're focusing on Assertiveness.
A key facet of assertiveness is being able to stand up for ourselves, to state our needs and work to get them met. Often when we think about standing up for ourselves it is in the face of other people and structures who might be preventing us from meeting our needs. However, sometimes the person getting in the way is ourselves! We can hold ourselves to impossible standards, require more of ourselves than we would ever ask of others, and push ourselves to do more than we truly have the capacity to do. If you feel yourself getting exhausted, unable to do everything you intend to do, give yourself a break. Let some things slip from your to do list for a day or two, say no when you’re asked to take on more, try have the compassion for yourself you would have for a friend who was tired and pushing themselves too hard.
Getting To know you! Ms. Levine
Ms. Levine has been teaching first grade for 5 years but this is her first year at Hatherly Elementary. She moved to the South Shore this past summer and loves it! In her free time Ms. Levine enjoys being outside, exploring different hiking trails, reading, and spending time with her family. Ms. Levine said she is very happy to be a part of the Hatherly community, and it has been so wonderful getting to know the students and their families!
