Mill Valley Weekly
October 26th, 2023
Hello Mill Valley Families,
Hello Mill Valley Families,
Today was one of those days that our staff and students look forward to each year! The Halloween Parade has been a tradition for many years where students get to show off their costumes to the whole school and staff participate in a friendly costume competition decided by student vote!
Other things to look forward to are:
- All School Concerts (November and May)
- School Dress Up Days
- Monthly Golden Awards
- Principals Serving Lunch & Treats
- Grade Level Field Trips
- 100th Day of School
- Kids Heart Challenge
- All School Field Trip (Sponsored by PTO)
- Field Day
- and so much more!
We love the many opportunities we have to make a positive impact on the student experience at MV. If you have not already, please "like" the Mill Valley Elementary Facebook page and/or Instagram page to see many updates throughout the year.
Sincerely,
Allyce Harris, Principal
Julie Hetzel, Associate Principal
Don't forget, TOMORROW (10/27) there is NO SCHOOL.
Our teachers will be engaging in professional development.

In the month of October, buddy classes completed an activity emphasizing that our words matter. Buddy classes had a cut out of a paper person and they read mean statements to the paper person. As they did that, the teachers ripped off a piece of the paper person and crumpled it up. Then, they tried to piece it back together with kind words and apologies (and tape). Lastly, classes discussed how our words and actions can affect people and how we can treat people with respect.

Attendance & Tardies
Did you know that in the 2022-23 school year, 63% of our students at Mill Valley Elementary were not tardy to school or class? Thank you for getting your child on the bus or to school on time.
Just a reminder...
- the first bell rings at 9:00am and doors open
- the second bell rings at 9:10am and students should be in their classroom ready to start the day
Safety Drills at Mill Valley
As part of our safety checks at Mill Valley Elementary, we conduct two lockdown drills each year. Please know that the purpose of this drill is to ensure that we have the best practices in place in case of a true emergency. These drills are just one part of our larger commitment to safety and security.
Our lockdown drill consists of conversations between students and their teachers to discuss what they would do if someone was in our building without our permission. During the drill, a script is read over the PA to help facilitate the discussions that happen in each classroom. We encourage our teachers to take as much time as needed to process the drill with their classroom. We are especially thankful for the cooperation of the Muskego Police Department in conducting these exercises.
We will be conducting our first Lockdown drill next Thursday, November 2nd.
Thank you for your cooperation and support in keeping our school safe.
