Welcome to our CTS Snapshot - a weekly celebration update. We are delighted to share with parents and carers alike student triumphs at Corby Technical School. We are proud of every student and every success they have - please feel free to share with us any achievements they might have.
Curriculum Connections Day
Curriculum Day
The day was designed to help students in Years 7-10 network their learning so that they can spot the links between subjects to deepen their understanding.
Learning New Skills
Students worked in all departments including Art, where they learnt about the Science behind Art with Mrs Morgan.
Group Work
Students spent time in Humanities and English studying the representation of slavery.

Students:
- Miss Connellan has nominated Year 8 student Daisy for her insightful and perceptive ideas and responses on the Curriculum Connections day.
- Mr Hirst would like to say well done to the Year 8 Design and Technology students for their work on their metal structures project.
- Mr Cox has nominated Year 9 student Aidan for an amusing monologue in Drama.
- Mr Godfrey has nominated Year 10 students Emmanuel, Finlaye and Cory for their work on the Trebuchet challenge.
- Mr Gourlay has nominated Year 10 student Alex for his excellent commitment and contribution in Computer Science lessons.
- Mr Cox has nominated Year 10 Scientists Cory, Luke and Jalal for a great display of safety first during practical work.
Miss McGrath has nominated Year 8 scientists for producing fantastic reports on the pros and cons of nuclear energy, also nominated are Year 8 students James, Daisy, Denisa, Sai and Michael for brilliant results in their end of year Science assessment.
- Mr Jackson has nominated Year 7 students Courtney and Ksenija and Year 8 students Grace and Thomas for their excellent effort in Maths and Computing during the Curriculum Connections day.
- Miss Williams has nominated Year 7 students Snaita, Nikola, Emma and Jaasau, Year 8 students Holly, Daisy and Jayme for for excellent effort and showcase of skill in contemporary dance club. Also nominated are Year 8 students Ashden, Rowan and Brandon S for for superb discuss technique, allowing them to throw at great distances in PE.
- Miss Grieves has nominated Year 8 girls PE for excellent effort and progress in shot putt in today's lesson.
Staff:
- Mrs Arnold would like to thank all the staff for their hard work during Curriculum Connections Day, and also to Miss Shran and Mrs Thompson for supporting the Year 12 students in gaining work experience, Year 12 student Kacper spent three days at the Houses of Parliament, an amazing experience.
Snapshot News
Carnegie 2019
A group of Year 7 and 8 Students attended a Carnegie Shadowing event where students met to discuss this year's shortlisted titles and vote for their favourites. Well done to Olivia who came first in the quiz.
Cambridge University Visit
Year 9 students recently visited Cambridge University and had the opportunity to tour the campus and experience the world class engineering department of the college.
Year 8 - Design and Technology
Year 8 students have been working on their metal structures project, pictured was created by Denisa.
Futures Week
Year 12 Future Week
Students have taken part in a number of activities including work experience and visit to Universities.
Next Steps
Students have looked at the opportunities available to them after A levels, including degree courses and apprenticeships at Bedford University and UCAS Conference.
Work Experience
Students have completed placements at various employers including shadowing the local MP at the Houses of Parliament. Guest speakers also visited school this week.
Attendance Matters
Every single day a student is absent from school equates to a day lost of learning. At Corby Technical School we pride ourselves in maintaining excellent attendance. Our target is to achieve and maintain a whole school attendance of above 96.5%. We will be giving you weekly updates on our whole school attendance, the tutor group and house who achieved the highest attendance this week.
Whole School Attendance
Attendance this week is 95.3%, still slightly below our target, but better than last week.
Tutor Group Winners
Best tutor group this week is 9CA with 97.2%, well done to Mrs Brightwell and your form.
Best House Attendance
House winners this week are T house, well done Telford and Tacke.
Reminders:
- A letter outlining the final details for Year 11 Prom which takes place on Thursday 27th June has been emailed to parents.
- Year 7 Hunstanton trip is on Tuesday 2nd July, please ensure payment has been made via Wisepay.
