April Parent Newsletter

Please do not allow students and younger siblings to play in the rear of the building following parent pick up. The parking lot is a very busy place at the end of the day. We can not allow students to run and play on the blacktop when cars are coming and going.

As we experience warmer weather, students will begin spending more time outside for lessons and/or special events. Based on FAA and PA State regulations which state, “Never fly over groups of people, public events, or stadiums full of people”; drones are not permitted on any of our school grounds.

The main office receives all notes and lunch money sent to school via "backpack express". Please make sure that you include your child's first name, last name and room number on all correspondence. Thank you!

As the weather begins to warm up, it is time to remind families about appropriate warm weather dress. Students are NOT permitted to wear flip flops, short shorts, short skirts, or tops with spaghetti straps. Exposed shoulder straps should be 2 inches or greater.

The good news is that French Creek raised a total of $10, 600.00 which will be used to offset the cost of field trips for our students. The bad news is we didn't reach our building's reading goal. As a result, Dr. McKillip will not be duct taped to a wall this year.

Our next PTA meeting will be on Wednesday, April 3rd at 7:00 PM in the commons.

Thursday, April 4th is National School Librarian Day. Many thanks Mrs. Fazioli for promoting a passion for reading in our students.

Showstoppers photography will be at school on Thursday, April 4th to take spring pictures. Parents will now be able to preview and select pictures choices online!

Please see the attached document below regarding our K-6 2019 Talent Show. All forms are due by Friday, April 5th.

Friday, April 5th will be Beach Day at French Creek. Students and staff will be celebrating the arrival of spring by wearing hats, sunglasses, shorts, and t-shirts (weather permitting).

School will now be in season on Wednesday, April 17th due to our third snow day. As of today, schools will be closed April 18th, 19th, and 22nd.

Main Line Today magazine will once again be celebrating some of our region’s best educators with their Top Teachers awards. Please consider nominating one of our teachers today! Nominations are due by April 19th. Click here for the nomination form.

Our French Creek K-Kids are once again raising money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society through their Pennies for Patients campaign. This group raises money to help people fighting blood cancer. The campaign runs April 22nd through May 10th. Students will receive a small collection box to fill with change – so shake out those pants pockets, check under the couch cushions, and smile big at Grandma! Once your child’s box is filled, bring it to school, and help to fill the box in your student’s homeroom. Pennies, dollars, and coins of any amount are all appreciated! Students will be completing PSSA assessments on the dates listed below. As a reminder, requests for Non-School Sponsored Travel cannot be approved during the PSSA testing window.

Grades 3-6 Language Arts testing will be April 23rd, 24th, and 25th

Grades 3-6 Mathematics testing will be April 29th and 30th

Grade 4 Science testing will be on May 1st and 2nd

The PTA will be hosting a Spring Fling dance for students and their families on Friday, April 26th from 6:30-8:30 PM in the multi-purpose room. We hope to see you there.

Save the date! French Creek will be hosting Kindergarten Round Up on Monday, May 13th. There will be no AM or PM classes on this day.
