At Waikiki School, we celebrate the Habits of Mind (HOM)s daily, with a monthly focus on a specific HOM. Each month we will share with our families the HOM for the month with a little background information.

We begin this school year by focusing on a Habit of Mind that is needed now more than ever. Cooperation and Caring is the HEART of our mindful learning community. We learn how to work together, think interdependently, encourage each other, show kindness and nurture mutual respect.

All of our classrooms have a Caring and Cooperation (C&C) partner, usually a pairing between an upper and lower grade homeroom. Throughout the year, C&C partners cooperatively work together in doing mindful activities such as "Reading Buddies," STEM projects, and more!

Here’s what you need to know about the big event, which will take place from Monday, Aug. 14, 2023 – Thursday, Aug. 17, 2023 at Waikiki School Cafeteria:

Fair, set up eWallet for worry-free, cash-free purchases. Anyone can contribute! Share each

child’s eWallet so friends and family can add funds and give your kids more books to enjoy.

If you can’t make it to the Fair, then shop at our school’s Book Fair online. All orders ship

directly to your home, and shipping is free for book orders over $25. Every online purchase will

also benefit our school.

Waikiki Elementary School

Are you interested in improving your English language skills for work or to support your child in their education? Waikiki Elementary School will be offering a Parent English Language Acquisition (ELA) Course at Waikiki Elementary School for interested individuals.

Classes will be held Mondays and Wednesdays

8:30 to 10 am and 10:05 to 11:30 am

Classes will also include weekly information from Principal Kusuda and members fo the school leadership team.

If you are interested in learning English in a convenient location and learning about how to make your child's experience at Waikiki Elementary School positive, this is the class for you.

Classes for the Fall Semester will start on August 21, 2023

All after-school program registrations are done directly with the individual vendors. Please direct all questions to the vendor contact.

Mr. Jordan is offering an after-school soccer program during the first quarter at Waikiki Elementary. Besides general soccer skills (dribbling, passing, shooting, physical conditioning) the soccer program will involve sportsmanship, persistence, cooperation/caring, and fun!

Payment will be $100 per child for the first quarter after school soccer program. Payment will be accepted either through Venmo or Cash.

How To Make Payment: Mr Jordan's Venmo handle is @jordantks. OR you can Pay Cash Payment on the First Day of Soccer. Registration will be on a first come first serve basis for this quarter. Space is LIMITED to 25 students.

Get your kids learning functional movement while having as much fun as possible! We encourage the kids to get active in this class while dancing and singing to their favorite songs. We value fun and creativity and love to see the kids express themselves through dance. We teach fun choreography to kids friendly music. Our aim is to get sweaty and keep the kids engaged. At the end of each session we will love to perform the choreography for parents! See you on the dance floor!

We love playing dance games that challenge the kids coordination skills and encourage quick thinking to keep them engaged. We teach them the latest moves to their favorite songs. We really value the kids’ input in the dances. We love nurturing their expression and creativity. Our aim is to get sweaty and have as much fun as possible. We love to perform for parents at the end of our series. See you on the dance floor!
