Dear Hyde-Addison ES Families,

As we transition into Black History Month, please be sure to review the Hyde-Addison ES Equity and Anti-Racism Task Force Newsletter for great resources, activities and events. There will also be school-wide and classroom engagement opportunities for virtual and in-person learners.

Thank you to everyone who joined the PTA meeting on Tuesday and engaged in the insightful discussion with our special guest speaker, Dr. Ivory Toldson. It was a great opportunity to have him meet with our school community.

Thank you to all of the families who joined our Hybrid Learning or Equity and Anti-Racism Task Force meetings, today. Your feedback is essential to supporting our school community.

Term 3 begins on Monday. Families have already received correspondence from the school and teachers, around any changes to class assignments. Please remain mindful that we are continuing to offer in-person and CARE classroom seats to families. So, as you receive notification of any virtual classroom changes, that does not mean you will not be offered an in-person or CARE classroom seat. This process can only move as quickly as families accept or decline seat offers. In addition, we will continue to review available data and follow the guidance of DCPS and DC Health, to determine if or when additional in-person cohorts may be able to open in the future. As you may have noticed, various cohorts have been introduced to the in-person setting, on a rolling basis. You may review Term 3 information under "Previous Updates", below.

Hyde-Addison Elementary Schools

Please note that for inclement weather closures, students learning from home will continue per their standard schedule. Students attending in person programming within DCPS school buildings will transition to at home learning on inclement weather school closure days.

We are excited to share the new programming for Wonderful Wednesdays, below. Please note that Schoolwide Meeting will now be shared by classroom teachers during morning meeting and will not take place on Wednesday afternoons anymore. Students can access all links to join Wonderful Wednesday activities on the Canvas page.

Communications have been shared directly with families from the school administration regarding any re-assignment of classroom teachers. Please be sure to read all communications from classroom teachers and reach out to Hyde.addison@k12.dc.gov with any questions.

DCPS just released Family Cornerstones, a roadmap for families from Pre-K to graduation that highlights key shared learning experiences that are essential to the partnership between DCPS schools and families! With options for elementary, middle, and high school-aged students, you can check out all of the fun activities here in English, Spanish, or Amharic.

For the SY20-21, Mayor Bowser announced an initiative to provide Internet 4 All for those that have students Enrolled at a DCPS school that receive SNAP or TANF Benefits. Please visit Internet 4 All for informative information regarding the process of signing up for the program.

Budget season FY21 is just ahead! Have you wondered how DCPS creates local school budgets? DCPS aims to be transparent in the budget process. Spend some time at https://www.dcpsdatacenter.com/ to have many or all of your questions answered.
