Superintendent Update
Cambrian School District, November 4, 2022
Dear Cambrian Families,
Can you believe it? We’re into November, and there’s so much achievement and work going on in our schools. This week our students enjoyed the fun of Halloween, and I’m sure they enjoyed Tuesday’s In Service Day even more. Our teachers participated in a robust day of professional development to improve student achievement. Please read the important information below to be informed of all the great things going on in the Cambrian School District.
Thanks also to the many wonderful parents who volunteered to help with the school Halloween events. We truly could not do what we do without you! Building that sense of community for children goes a long way toward giving them a sense of belonging. Parents, you are making a great impact!
Congratulations to our Teacher of the Year
I want to recognize Stacey Bibo from Price Middle School. On October 24th, she was honored at the 52nd Annual Teacher Recognition ceremony as Teacher of the Year for the Cambrian School District. Stacey Bibo is an incredible teacher, investing in each of her students, helping them thrive.
As many of you may know, Stacey started the NAMI (National Alliance for Mental Illness) walk at Price last year, raising over $10,000 for the NAMI organization and showcasing Price’s solidarity in support of mental health for all, ending the stigma of mental illness and replacing it with optimism. She did it again this year! I am so amazed by her energy!
Three cheers for our exemplary Stacey Bibo-- so grateful to have outstanding educators like her—and so many others!—in the Cambrian School District.

World Kindness Day
World Kindness Day on November 13th is a day to recognize the importance of being kind to each other, ourselves, and the world. On this day, participants celebrate and promote good deeds and pledge to acts of kindness.
Generosity is contagious and increases our happiness. In fact, in 2010, the Harvard Business School surveyed 136 countries and found people who gave to others were the happiest. Even just one act of kindness can turn someone’s day around and build a stronger community of healing and positivity. Here are ways you can join us for World Kindness Day:
Share your pledge to acts of kindness on social media and use the hashtags #worldkindnessday and #makekindnessthenorm.
Check out the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation for ideas on how to incorporate kindness into your everyday life.
Some of us are already taking steps to find professional help with our well-being, and perhaps you or a loved one should too. If you or a family member would like help finding a mental health care provider, use Care Solace, a complimentary and confidential coordination service provided by Cambrian School District: Visit caresolace.com/csd

What is a Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA)?
In 1977, all school districts and county school offices in California were required to form geographical regions of sufficient size and scope to provide for all special education service needs of children residing within the region’s boundaries. Each region became known as a Special Education Local Plan Area – SELPA. The SELPA and member local education agencies (LEAs) foster coordination between general and special education for prevention and early intervention of suspected disabilities. The SELPA also ensures appropriate education services for individuals with disabilities by working cooperatively with other public and private agencies to support a full complement of special education services for students.
SELPA III is one of 6 SELPAs in Santa Clara County. SELPA III is comprised of 12 local education agencies - 11 school districts and the Santa Clara County Office of Education. The 11 districts in SELPA III are 11 districts are: Cambrian School District, Campbell Union School District, Campbell Union High School District, Lakeside Joint School District, Loma Prieta Joint Union School District, Los Gatos Union School District, Los Gatos-Saratoga Union High School District, Luther Burbank School District, Moreland School District, Saratoga Union Elementary School District, and Union Elementary School District.

Santa Clara SELPA III CAC conducts meetings and special events throughout the year and advises the SELPA Governing Board (SELPA III Executive Council of Superintendents). For additional information, please visit the SELPA III CAC webpage.
