4.) CLASS OF 2023 - SCHOLARSHIPS AT COLLEGE BOARD
Big Future Scholarships
There are no essay, minimum GPA, test score, or citizenship requirements. It’s easy to enter scholarship drawings each month. Simply complete one of the steps before the deadline, and you’ll be automatically entered to win $500 and $40,000! Students whose families earn less than $60,000 a year have extra chances at scholarships because they’re eligible for two entries each drawing.
FAFSA
Now until February 28, 2023
The FAFSA is the free federal form that students complete to apply for financial aid for education after high school, including federal grants, work-study, and loans. Many states and colleges also use the information you provide on the FAFSA to determine your eligibility for state and institutional aid. For this reason, it’s a critical step toward receiving money for your college education, including for universities, community colleges, and vocational or technical schools.
Apply to Colleges
Now until February 28, 2023
Students in the class of 2023 who apply to two or more colleges will earn entries in monthly drawings for $500 and $40,000 scholarships
Explore Scholarships Scholarships
Now until February 28, 2023
Students in the class of 2023 who explore the BigFuture Scholarship Search will earn entries in monthly drawings for $500 and $40,000 scholarships. That’s right: By discovering your own list of other scholarships, personalized for you, you’ll qualify for scholarships from BigFuture.
5.) JOHNS HOPKINS 2023 VIRTUAL SUMMER PROGRAM OPPORTUNITY:
Johns Hopkins University would like to invite the students of Anderson Preparatory Academy who are interested in global health and medicine to apply for our 2023 virtual summer program.
Our international conference is a Johns Hopkins University student and faculty-led program open to students in grades 9-12. Through our conference, students from around the world learn about issues in global health, public health, and medicine through world-class lectures from leaders in these fields, develop connections with like-minded exceptional students, and share their own work and ideas on global health-related topics at the international scale. Featured speakers at our conference have included leading global health researchers, renowned professors, physicians, policy developers, and Nobel Prize winners. In short, the purpose of our program is to reach passionate students of all backgrounds from around the world and develop the next generation of leaders in global health, public health, and medicine.
Virtual conference programming will be held throughout the summer of 2023. The conference consists of a series of multiple virtual events on multiple days throughout June-August 2023. If an admitted student cannot attend parts of the programming live, there will be asynchronous options for students to watch the content they miss. The conference registration fee for admitted students is 99 USD; if the fee places a significant financial burden on a student’s family, financial assistance is available as we do not want the fee to be a barrier for any deserving student. There are also no application fees.
The conference application is available on our website (https://glohea.org) and will be accepted until February 12th, 2023. Each year, admission into our program is competitive, so we highly encourage your students to apply at their earliest convenience.
Please do not hesitate to email our team at ghlcjhu@glohea.org or visit our website if you would like any clarification or have any questions.

COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS
All APA cadets in grades 6-12, as per our charter policy, are required to complete twenty-four (24) volunteer hours of community service per year. We will celebrate community service successes at the end of year awards day. APA strongly believes in “giving back” to others and to our community. Check out the graphic below for some community service ideas!
We also have a newer program called the Jet Fuel program, where students, grades 6-12, can help maintain the community garden and put together food boxes for the local community. Cadets can earn up to 2 hours per week of community service through the Jet Fuel program. Please email Mattie Walsh at mwalsh@goapa.org for more information!
Cadets will record their hours using a community service form via Google Forms. Cadets can ask their homeroom teachers for the community service form. Cadets can also ask their homeroom teacher how many hours they have recorded. Cadets will fill out their own forms based on their service hours for the specific events/service hours they worked. It will later be approved by administration.
