Monthly Newsletter February 2023

Principal's Message
Happy February!
We have officially made it past the 100th day of school! It is so exciting to see the amount of growth that students have made in 100 short days. I know we will continue to see this pattern until May!
Thank you to all of your who donated to the 1st Cereal Domino Donation. I know that classes, preschools, and The Cody Cupboard, will be extremely grateful for these snacks.
All grades have finished the WY-TOPP Winter Interim. I know this time can be stressful and overwhelming for students. Thank you for your support and helping with students being prepared each and every day. We will begin Spring summatives in April, be on the lookout in the April Newsletter for more testing information.
Valentine's Day
Please remember that balloons or glass vases cannot be taken on buses. Latex balloons are also not allowed in the building due to allergies. Please plan on saving those deliveries for your students at home. Students will partake in Valentines Day parties on February 14th. If you would like to accompany your student to their party, please be in contact with your child's teacher AND be sure you have a current volunteer form on file with the office.
Goodies with Guardians
Goodies with Guardians was a hit! Thank you to our PTK for hosting this event. There were over 450 donuts served and I know we have many more visitors than that. We appreciate your patience during this busy and popular event. We have begun brainstorming for next year on how to make this event better for all who attend. The next event for PTK is pizza with pops, please see below more information regarding this great event!
Parent Teacher Conferences
Conferences will be on Thursday, February 16th and Thursday, February 23rd. Please look in your child's backpack on February 9th for more information regarding your conference. If you have questions or need to reschedule, please contact your child's teacher. We tend to have an amazing outcome for conferences. This is a prime example of the dedication our families have for their child's education.
During conferences, PTK will host a book fair. Students will be able to buy during recess and before and after school during the 2 weeks that conferences are held.
Colder Weather
I know we are all looking forward to more sunshine and warmer weather. We still have plenty of days that will be cold and snowy. If your child needs gloves, snow pants, coat, or boots, please contact our counselor, Mrs. Simmons.
February also begins our snowshoeing trips with Mrs. Schramm. The schedule is below. We will be watching the weather closely to ensure the temperatures are appropriate for students. Our number one priority is safety. While this is a great activity for our students to partake in, we want to be sure the temperatures are conducive to being safe. If there is a change of plans we will do our best to get this information to you in a timely manner.
National Counselors Week
February 6th-13th we will recognize our counselor, Mrs. Kambrie Simmons. We are very fortunate at Livingston, to have Mrs. Simmons. She loves each and every student. She collaborates with teachers and families to help provide support for both. We love Milo and Mrs. Simmons and we don't know what we would do without them. Thank you for all that you do for us each and every day!
School Board Appreciation Month
Thank you to our School Board for your consistent support of students and staff! You work countless hours to support the education system and the future of our youth. Thank You!

Arrival and Dismissal
Students need to be outside or at breakfast in the morning.
Breakfast starts at 7:45am
Time before school is used by teachers to plan and prepare lessons and materials. Because teachers are unavailable to supervise them, we cannot allow students to be in the hallways before 8:10am, unless you have arranged tutoring.
Instructional Bell- 8:10am
If you arrive after the bell you will be marked tardy.
Tardy: The elementary schools of Park 6 take attendance twice daily. Attendance is taken first thing in the morning and afternoon. In the morning , students who are late but arrive before 8:30 are counted tardy. If they arrive after 8:30, they would be considered absent for the morning. In the afternoon, students absent longer than 20 minutes after 11:30 will be considered absent for the afternoon.
Note: Habitual tardiness is dealt with at the building level. Five (5) tardies to school equal one unexcused absence.
Dismissal Bell-3:15pm
Friday Dismissal-Early out every Friday-1:35pm
Please call the office before 2:30pm if you have a change in after school plans. This helps with getting notes to the children in a timely manner. If we don't hear from you, we will assume to continue on with regular after school plans.
SchoolPass-Visitor Management
Please sign in with our new school visitor sign-in/check-in app located in the vestibule. This allows you to check in quickly as a visitor, parent, contractor, and volunteer. For repeat visitors, you can use your QuickPins and for those not in the system, please bring your ID for a quick set up.
Thank you for your patience with our new safe school pass program.
Note from our Nurse
February is National Children’s Dental Health Month
Dental screenings will take place on Wednesday, February 1st. Your child will bring home a card with results of the screening. Thank you to our local dentists who volunteer their time for these screenings.
Dental health is an important part of overall health. Tips to help your child maintain a healthy smile:
· Brush teeth at least twice a day with an ADA-accepted toothpaste. Aim for 2 minutes of brushing and clean all tooth surfaces.
· Clean between teeth daily with floss. Tooth-decay causing bacteria linger between teeth where toothbrush bristles can’t reach.
· Eat a balanced diet, avoiding sugary snacks and drinks.
· Visit your dentist regularly for professional cleanings and oral exams. Ask the dentist about your child’s specific fluoride needs.
School Meals-Pricing
We will charge based on your eligibility.

Title I
The FastBridge universal screener has been completed for both math and reading. Last week a letter came home letting families know which tier of instruction specific to reading their student is in and if they are receiving interventions (below is an image of the letter). Title I has begun pulling small groups to provide interventions for math and reading. We have completed our first winter reading progress monitor.
Here is some information regarding the differences between the FastBridge universal screener and the FastBridge progress monitoring: https://fastbridge.illuminateed.com/hc/en-us/articles/1260802360409-From-Screening-to-Progress-Monitoring
