What is the Community Resilience HUB Workshop Series?

We have been coordinating a series of workshops island-wide regarding the identification of community resilience HUBs (as part of the Action 15 HUBs project) which is a follow-up to the O'ahu Resilience Strategy published in 2019. We have been working with many partners to help make these workshops a success (Kupuna Collective, Neighborhood Boards, Island wide Resilience Networks, Community Centers, etc.) and we hope to continue to broaden our network of partners to help O’ahu be more resilient in the future. We are planning HUB workshops spanning across O’ahu and will be coming to your community soon!

We are setting the dates and venues as fast as we are building partnerships across the island and will share upcoming invitations as soon as we have them solidified. HUB planning invites neighbors to think about existing locations providing services to the community and the role they might play in relationship to before, during and after a natural disaster in your local area.

Your participation is helping us to drive this project further and take the information we've gathered and use it to best serve the community. This series was an incredible opportunity that allowed the community to learn more about what HECO's plans are for the future of green, renewable, sustainable, and resilient energy in Hawai'i. The series is pau, but below is a link so you can watch the recordings from the workshops across the O'ahu in case you missed them!

Resilience Core Leaders (RCLs) partnered up with The Department of Land and Natural Resources along with the help of Kapi'olani Community College's Ecology Club to restore Makiki trail.

Members of our Resilience Community also got together to get their hands dirty with the Mālama Kapi'olani Project on a campus beautification day. The day was full of education on native and endemic plants and their many traditional uses and the importance of passing that knowledge down further. Special thank you to Auntie Coco for organizing this event and to all the members of the community who came out to help.
