Mission
The mission of the Oakland Counseling Association is to enhance the quality of life in
Oakland County by promoting the development of professional counselors, advancing the
counseling profession and using the profession and practice of counseling to promote respect for human dignity and diversity.
2020 - 21 OCA Membership
Oakland Counseling Association continues to be dedicated to working with Professional Counselors to provide opportunities for Professional Development. This year is quite different for most of us, and because of the challenges the 2020-21 school year has brought, we are not charging a Membership fee to join OCA this year, and you will still be able to benefit from all that we have to offer. You will be joining a group dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in Oakland County by promoting the development of professional counselors, advancing in the counseling profession, and using the profession and practice of counseling to promote respect for human dignity and diversity. This year’s professional development opportunities will all be FREE and Virtual to allow for as many interested counselors to join us and benefit from what OCA has to offer.
If you have been a member in the past and there have been changes to your contact information or changes within your department, please email lisakurowski@wlcsd.org with updated contact information or changes so that we can keep our membership data current.
If you are not currently a member but would like to join this year, for FREE, please complete the form below.

Oakland Counseling Association Virtual Event Speaker Series
We are seeking speakers for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year who are interested in providing professional learning for school counselors. Our membership includes school counselors from throughout Oakland County as well as some of the surrounding counties. This professional learning series is intended to help school counselors grow in their practice of supporting students and families in elementary, middle, and high school.
We have designed a speaker series where we are hoping to enlist community mental health agencies, colleges and postsecondary training programs, businesses and apprenticeship programs, military representatives, and school counselors to deliver professional learning to our OCA members. This can serve as an opportunity for you or your organization to engage school counselors in learning more about your services as well as available opportunities for students.
Visit our information sheet for open dates and to submit your proposal!!
