Winter Newsletter
Welcome to the Seward Park Campus Library Newsletter! Here's a recap of this season's events, and things to look forward to in the new year!
Happy reading!

The students are here!
We've had over 4000 visits to the library this school year so far. Students from all schools are coming to visit, check out books, hang out, and get homework done!
World Cup Fever!
We attracted a new crowd with our World Cup screenings throughout the tournament. Staff and students were not shy about who they were rooting for!
New Mural
Check out this gorgeous new mural right outside the library made by New Design students in collaboration with Kristy McCarthy.
Astor Grant Winner!
Seward Park Campus Library is the proud recipient of a $3750 grant from the Astor Center for Public School Libraries. The grant is being used towards media literacy and will be specifically used to purchase podcast recording equipment for our library. More information on signing up for time and space in the "studio" will be forthcoming once materials are purchased!
Lambda Literary Writing Residency
Seward Park Campus Library has won a six-week writer-in-residence grant from Lambda Literary. Twelve students will be working on fiction writing with an LGBTQIA+ writer and focus for publication in their first teen anthology. Interested students can contact Mina at mleazer@schools.nyc.gov or visit this information link for more information.
Yu&Me Books Partnership
We are starting out first community partnership with independent bookstore Yu&Me Books in Chinatown. Owner Lucy Yu is excited to partner with Seward Park Campus Library to bring author talks and community events to our library. Our first event will be a Lunar New Year Children's Storybook Hour on Sunday, January 22. Stay tuned for more information!
Book clubs are starting!
We had our first inaugural book club reading Brown Girls by Daphne Palasi Andreades. If you and your staff or students are interested in reading a book together, please let me know! With our partnership with MyLibraryNYC, we can get book club sets of books to read together.
