Last Day to Apply for 4J Budget Committee
Residents interested in serving on 4J's Budget Committee have until 11:59 tonight, Thursday, Nov. 30, to apply for one of five openings.
The committee reviews annual budget proposals to ensure that the district is planning to spending money in furtherance of district goals.
Applicants must reside within school district boundaries and must be registered to vote. They can not be district employees, but they don’t need to have students enrolled in 4J schools. Budget committee members are volunteers and are not paid for their service.
School Choice Season Is Coming in January
To be included in the school choice lottery, 4J residents must apply between January 1–31. Non-district residents apply later, March 1–31.
Families are invited to explore their school choice options, including their neighborhood school, during the January school choice period. All 4J schools will hold both in-person and virtual information sessions in January; details will be provided in December. The district also will hold three virtual presentations where families learn more about 4J's school choice process.
Winter Weather: Be In the Know
Winter is here and with the colder weather comes potential snow and ice. There are several ways to find out when hazardous weather conditions close or delay schools or alter bus routes.

Community organizations in Lane County provide numerous resources to help families in need during the holiday season. These organizations offer food boxes, holiday meals and free gifts. Details can be found here. In addition, 4J's Welcome Center has some small jackets donated from Project Hope that fit younger students (kindergarten through fourth grade).
