Grewenow. We are Great; we are Growing!

Thank you Families for Attending Grewenow Reading Night! Even though the night was rescheduled, we had a fantastic turnout for the event! Those in attendance experienced a great chicken and pasta dinner, fun craft activities, and amazing opportunities to read!

Along with our Reading Night, This year's all school read has been centered around the graphic novel El Deafo. It is a semi-autobiographical account of the author's, Cece Bell, experiences growing up with a hearing impairment (deaf).

On Friday, March 2, our students gathered for an all school assembly to kick off the Grewenow famous March Madness. It has been all about Responsible, Respectful and Safe for the best March Madness yet.

All month long, students will engage in an exciting learning competition to achieve exciting rewards for their classrooms and the building. Every time a student is observed showing an element of the Dragon way, their class will add a marble to a classroom jar as a visual for progress. That progress will be charted to help celebrate the amazing actions of our students!

It is the time of year for grade 3-5 students to demonstrate their mastery of skills and knowledge on the Wisconsin Forward Exam. Brochures were distributed to families at Parent-Teacher conferences and they provide gives an outline of what the exam will contain as well as how the results are used to assist your student in getting to the next level of learning. Registration for Summer School begins on March 19 and runs through until May 11, 2018.
Students can be registered online at: www.kusd.edu/departments/summeropportunities or, at your child's school office.
*Registration at boundary areas schools is guaranteed until May 11th, 2018. After May 11, enrollment depends on available space.

Thursday, March 22 Grewenow and all of KUSD will have regular dismissal at 2:25 PM.

Friday, March 23 there is NO SCHOOL for students as it is a teacher work day for the end of Quarter 3

Just friendly reminder that Spring Break begins on Friday, March 30, 2018. Students will return to school on Monday, April 9th, 2018 at 7:20 AM. Bell rings at 7:25 AM

An informational Phantom Ranch parent meeting for all Grade 5 families will be taking place on Tuesday March, 27th at 6:00PM in the multi-purpose room. At this meeting, families receive paper work, including medical forms, and other great information about the upcoming outdoor education experience in May.

By the end of this week, we will have the results of our Perfect Attendance winners for the month of February. Those students will received a complimentary Milwaukee Bucks ticker, Wendy's value meal, and the chance to shoot a free throw on the Bradley Center Court.

For the month of March, students with perfect attendance will have the opportunity to throw a pie in the face of our principal, Mr. Sellenheim.

School attendance is a crucial part of student success, and in addition to exciting learning opportunities students receive each day, there is no reason to add to the fun with a little pie!

Grewenow Family & Teacher Community or GFTC (pronounced "Giftsy") meetings will be held the first Wednesday of each month at 6:00PM in the Grewenow School library.
