Other Events and Opportunities
This talk explores the linkages between the Dirty War in Argentina and the 1980 Gwangju Uprising in South Korea that have been obfuscated and erased by disciplinary borders. Dr. Kim examines the connections and intimacies between the overlapping histories of these two cities demonstrating the ways in which Global South countries were violently conscripted into dirty wars against communism. Through an analysis of Im Heung-soon's documentary Good Light, Good Air (2021), she reveals how missing bodies and transformed urban spaces haunt Gwangju and Buenos Aires, proposing that Korean-Latin American connections offer possibilities for imagining decolonial futures. Self Care and Campus Support
Tutoring is Available for 80+ Classes this Spring Quarter!
Sessions start Sunday, April 6th.
Students can sign up on TutorHub - UCSC's Tutor Portal.*
Interested in tutoring, but the class is not supported?
We have other programs that work to support students - read more about them below:
Serves students with math questions in the following subjects, algebra, trigonometry, calculus, and vector calculus. (The tutors are math majors and may have the capacity to tutor higher levels of math)
Students are encouraged to work with other students who may be in the same class or can work individually. The tutor roams the room checking in on students individually and providing support.
Serves students with any writing work (assignment or personal) they encounter.
Students will have access to 30-minute meetings with a writing tutor who is trained to help students become better writers, not edit.
45-minute workshops that teach students the tools to be successful at UCSC. The topics in the workshop are science-backed best practices for effective, durable learning!
Topics include Study Skills, Goal Setting, Productive Struggle, Note-Taking, Understanding your Syllabus, Time Management
The coaching program connects interested students with peer coaches. In those private, one-on-one meetings, students can reflect on their experience at UCSC, learn new study strategies, and get connected to resources and opportunities.
