Greetings NPS Parents,
As you may know, the Oklahoma State Department of Health has confirmed at least one positive case of the coronavirus, known as COVID-19, here in Cleveland County. Please rest assured that my leadership team and I take this extremely seriously and we are tackling issues surrounding COVID-19 with the utmost care and concern. There is nothing more important than the health and safety of our students, staff and family members.
Last week, we had critical planning discussions with community leaders, local health officials and the Oklahoma State Department of Education. We have continued these discussions over the weekend and the Norman Board of Education plans to convene Wednesday to discuss measures that our school district can take to prevent the spread of COVID-19. When the meeting concludes, we will share information about actions taken by the school board.
However, we recognize that the situation is fluid and things are rapidly changing. We will continue to provide updates as the situation evolves.
This is certainly a challenging time that has caused a lot of uncertainty for adults and children alike. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has provided information that may be helpful if you wish to discuss COVID-19 with your children. Click here to view CDC’s recommendations for talking with children about the virus.
Again, we fully appreciate the gravity of this situation and there is no greater priority than the health and wellbeing of the community we serve. We are prepared to take the actions necessary to protect our students, families, staff members and the greater Norman community.
Sincerely,
Dr. Nick Migliorino
Superintendent
