4th Grade Happenings
This year has been a whirlwind of activity in the Fourth Grade. The children have learned the Summit Platform and are succeeding in accomplishing a lot of great work on their Focus Areas in English and Math. In English we have done a Character Study based on the book Chronicles of Narnia - The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. We are working on writing our own stories right now. The children are doing a wonderful job and showing great imagination in their stories. In Math, we have finished several units, Large Numbers, Factors and Multiples, and are now working on Whole Number Multiplication. If you would like to help your child, have them practice memorizing their Multiplication Facts, which will make them successful in this Unit. In another week we will be beginning History, starting with States.
We are excited about the upcoming Zoom Parent Teacher Conferences this week. We have a lot of great information to share with parents.
The children are doing a great job following all the new protocols and yet maintaining a cooperative and successful learning experience. We are so proud of all of our Fourth Graders. We are off to a SUPER year!

News from Mr. Everett
Dear Parents,
It is hard to believe that we have already been in school for almost 9 weeks! Our students have come in ready to learn and we have settled into the daily routines. Please remember that you play a vital role in your child’s success at school. You can help by asking your child about his/her day, having a positive attitude about learning, and reading to or with your child every night. You would be amazed what 20 minutes of reading with your child each night will do for his/her language development and reading skills. Thank you for all your support at home!

World Kindness Day- November 13, 2020
World Kindness Day is an international holiday that is observed in multiple countries including the United States, Canada, Japan, and Australia. The purpose of World Kindness Day as outlined by the World Kindness Movement is “to highlight good deeds in the community focusing on the positive power and the common thread of kindness which binds us.” Kindness is an essential part of the human condition which bridges the divides of gender, race, religion, and zip codes. World Kindness day presents us with the opportunity to reflect on a quality that brings people of every kind together and allows us to devote a day to both large and small acts of kindness.
Use this day to inspire yourself and your family to spread kindness throughout the world. No act of kindness is too small. Be creative and have fun. This could be on your own or something you do as a family. You could compliment every person you see, tell everyone good morning, write your teacher a thank you note, send flowers to a friend, pick up litter, or buy someone a sonic drink. The list is endless. The important part is that you embrace the positive power of kindness.
Simple random acts of kindness can set in motion a ripple effect that can change the course of a person's day, or even their life! Plus, showing kindness has a boomerang effect and the kindness you show someone will come back to you in some way. Watch this video to see the boomerang effect in action. Will you be part of the beautiful ripple effect of kindness?
