MST Weekly Update
January 5, 2024

Good afternoon to all of our MST family members.
A Happy New Year to all.
The students came back to school this week refreshed and ready to get back to work. A reminder that the 2nd quarter will be ending on January 25th. All students need to concentrate on being caught up in all classes so that adequate progress is reported on the upcoming report cards. Every subject has make-up days after school. The schedule is on our school website (https://mst.mansd.org/).
Winter Weather Update
A snowstorm is being predicted for Saturday night into Sunday. As of now, it looks like it will be done early enough on Sunday so that school is not impacted on Monday. However, this is a good time to remind everyone of school delay and closing procedures.
The Manchester School District announces closures and delays on WMUR-TV, 95.7 WZID and it sends out direct text messages. If there is a 2-hour delay, MST's day begins at 9:50 AM with all students reporting to Advisory for attendance. Period A high school classes and Block 1 CTE classes are cancelled. Students will report to Period B1/Block 2 at 10:00. Whenever school is cancelled, we return to the day that was missed. For example, Monday is a White day. If it were to be a snow day, Tuesday (or the day that we return) would be a White day.
FAFSA Is Here!
Attention Class of 2024! The FASFA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is now open at Log In | Federal Student Aid. Please make sure you start your FASFA ID (how to video using this link How to Create an Account and Username (FSA ID) for StudentAid.gov (youtube.com)) in the next few days because it takes 3-5 days to process. Granite Edvance is available to help families navigate the application. You can schedule an appointment through this link https://calendly.com/graniteedvance
This year, all NH seniors are required to complete the FAFSA form, or file a waiver form, in order to receive a diploma. Soon, you will be given a form that needs to be completed stating the date you submitted the FAFSA form, or stating that you request a waiver from the FAFSA. As soon as that form is available, we will distribute it to all of the members of the Class of 2024, and I will also include it in a future newsletter.
It is highly recommended that all seniors, and their families, complete the FAFSA even if you are not yet certain about your plans beyond high school. You may be surprised to find out how much aid you are eligible to receive and that may change your thoughts on your future.
