Information for Parents
End of the Grading Period: The end of the first trimester is Friday, December 3rd. There will be no school on Monday, December 6th so that teachers may work on grades. Report cards will be mailed home at the end of that week.
SMS Food & Toy Drive: SMS will hold a Food Drive & Toy Drive beginning Tuesday, December 7th. The Food Drive will run December 7th through 10th. Students will earn points for their Flight Time class by bringing in items from the daily category. Please do not bring perishable items or open containers. All items will be donated to the Sherwood Elks and will support local families in need.
Sparrow Club Service Challenge: Students do not need to become a member of the Sparrow Club to help raise funds in honor of SMS Sparrow Avery H. Any interested students (and adults) may perform acts of community service. Just complete the service then fill out the service voucher describing the community service performed. For every hour of community service, SMS Sparrow Club Sponsors will donate to Sparrow Club for Avery H. This year’s goal is 300 hours which will unlock $3,000 for Avery’s family.
Barnes & Noble Book Fair: On Saturday, December 11th, the Sherwood Middle School will have their library's fundraiser with Barnes & Noble. A percentage of in store sales on Saturday, December 11th at the Bridgeport Store, located at 7227 Bridgeport Road in Tigard, will benefit the Archer library. Be sure to tell them you are with Sherwood Middle School Library upon making your purchase or give them the school’s bookfair ID # 12614244. Purchases made online on December 11th at BN.com/bookfairs also qualify. Please use the ID # 12614244.
Drop-off & Pick-up Parking Concern: Please do not park in the disabled parking spaces when coming to drop-off or pick-up your student. Our families with disabilities need to use those spaces. Please remember you must have a Disabled Parking Pass issued by the state to park in any of the Disabled Parking spaces. Additionally, if parking in the lots, please park only in the designated spaces.
