New Year, New Faces, New Start
Welcome back to the 2015-16 school year! While this is my 17th year of teaching, I am also a new face at DPMS. I am very excited to be your new Library Media Specialist. My previous experience includes 11 years as the Library Media Technology Specialist at New London Middle School and five years as an English teacher at Oshkosh North High School. I am ready to jump right in and help you with your literacy and technology needs. Please see me in the library whenever you need a book recommendation, technology assistance, or research help. I cannot wait to begin working with you!
You can learn more about me by following our DPMS library blog (formerly New London Middle School Library blog)- What's Up in Your LMC. I am also on Twitter @donnalynnyoung.
Invent and Create with our new Makerspace
You may be curious about all of the gadgets that are scattered about at the front of the library. Thanks to a grant acquired by Mr. Gauthier, DPMS now has a brand new makerspace in the library. What is a makerspace? A makerspace is simply a space where you can create, invent, tinker, and explore. Our new tools give you the freedom to explore everything from robotics to moviemaking to computer programming. Some of what you will find in our makerspace include a 3D printer, Sphero, a programmable robotic ball, Little Bits circuit kits, Makey Makeys, and Legos. The makerspace will be open during the day as well as during lunches. Stop in and explore!
