Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept 15 - Oct 15) Brought to You by Recorridos Virtuales
Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month by showing your class some of the amazing art created by Hispanic artists and giving students time to embrace and reflect upon them. For example, teach students about Frida Kahlo’s artwork and life’s influence. Consider giving students a virtual tour of La Casa Azul, the museum in Mexico dedicated to Frida Kahlo. Featuring Mr. Gonzalez Engaging Students with Immersive Learning Tools
Our very own Mr. Gonzalez has been showcased in a Verizon feature about how CUSD is engaging students with immersive learning tools. The feature highlights his students' use of the Visceral Science app, a VR experience that engages students in the world of astronomy and physics. Using this app, students are not limited to just reading about the science, but they are really able to experience science by immersing themselves in a 360 view of the galaxy and interactions between celestial bodies. Midterm elections are just weeks away. Hear what your students have to say about the issues on the ballot.
KQED brings you ready-to-use classroom curriculum to get youth talking about the issues that matter to them. The Call for Change Youth Media Challenge asks students to research, write and create an evidence-based audio or video commentary about how to make the world a better place.
Although the Call for Change challenge is designed for middle and high school students, all grade levels are welcome to use the free, modifiable curriculum. Elementary and college educators are asked not to publish student work to the showcase.
We hope to hear your students' voices on KQED's Youth Media Showcasethis year!
