McCool Academy Mission Update

Happy second week of school!!! We have had another successful week here at McCool Academy. We wanted to let you all know that NEXT TUESDAY and WEDNESDAY we will be on a modified bell schedule due to our Beginning of the Year STAAR.

This diagnostic assessment is one we will take very serious as we will be following the same protocol as our Spring STAAR Assessment. We want our Astronauts to have the best possible chance at achievement and growth! We will be able to accomplish our goals if we have a true diagnostic from each one of our learners so we ask you all to please talk with your child about giving their best and honest effort. We would not be able to support our learners academically if we are not aware they need intervention or enrichment. With this bell schedule it is important for ALL VIRTUAL LEARNERS WILL STAY HOME ON TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY. ONLY if you are in girls athletics you will come during 8th period on Tuesday.

***All virtual learners:

You will need to look in their Google Classroom and should login to the Google Hangout that has been assigned to them on their Google Classroom for BOY testing. Ms. Wadley will address all virtual learners Tuesday morning about our testing expectations for our virtual learners. Please be sure you have you Chromebooks fully charged and reliable internet connection. Testing instructions will be sent to you via your school email next week.

Do you need help accessing MCool Academy's new Learning Management System (LMS) ECHO? We will be offering a Echo Session for Families that have question on how to access Echo. Please complete this short Google Form (click here) if you have any question that we can answer during this session. We will send out a Google Hangout invitation Tuesday evening for you to have access to the virtual meeting we have scheduled for Wednesday at 5:30 P.M. We hope to see you there! *As a reminder, students in Orchestra and Theatre Arts will have grades within Gradebook due to the instructor serving on two or more campuses.

Please be aware of your chromebook usage as students are utilizing their chromebooks at home and during the school year. Students will be assigned their chromebooks for the school year and will be bringing their devices back and forth with them. Student history is immediately available to administration and counselors. We are able to view content that students upload or view on their devices and receive alerts when the content is inappropriate - this includes Netflix movies that are not rated for the appropriate age, social media content, and much more. Please be responsible with your technology usage as this could impact your child's ability to remain as a transfer student at McCool Academy. GoGuardian software helps our McCool Academy community navigate through their devices, better understand their students, and keep them safer online.

Please be sure to read the virtual learner expectations HERE. There have been many questions from our virtual learner families and we want to ensure our virtual learners are in the most safe and productive learning environment! We want all learners experiencing our STEAM and PBL belief!
