Out and About at South Creek Middle School!
Winter Basketball Tournament
By Aiona Anthony and Allison Keel
The Winter Basketball Tournament was on December 16, 2022.The fundraiser raised money for school trips and for the middle school in general. The tournament included 4 teams that played against each other with five middle school students on each team. The teams played full court while trying to score as many points as possible in the twelve minutes given. The people in the bleachers and the cheerleaders were clapping and cheering for all of the teams. The teams included 6th, 7th, and 8th graders who were playing against each other. This created lots of competition! The whole basketball tournament lasted about 2 hours long and helped the early release day pass quickly. Overall it was a fun time!

A Team with Heart-Getting To Know the SCMS Boy's Basketball Team
An Interview with Justyn Raynor
Meet the Team
This year, there are fifteen boys on the team and their captains are Zy'Mere R. and Dondre S. Players practice weekly so that they can create a strong team bond. As for communication on the team, Justyn states that there is “pretty good communication”. When asked how it feels to take home a win Justyn responded “It feels good to win”.
As the SCMS players, continue to play this season, their goal is not to just win. Instead it is to get better game by game. SCMS students are proud of their boy's basketball team and will continue to cheer them on to the end of their season!
