Next week is May
It's hard to believe that it'll be May next week. With May comes a lot of activities. Staff Appreciation, Choir concerts and Band concerts are on the calendar, and so is Career Day. Then comes the month of June with Celebration Day and 8th grade graduation. As we get to the end of the school year we want to make the days count, not count down the days. We appreciate your continued support of our school.
Spring Book Fair
We will be having a Spring Book Fair this year, but it will be online only. The dates of the Book Fair are May 2nd-6th. You can find out more about the Book Fair using this link.
PTO Student Grants
The PTO encourages all students to apply for a grant. Please see below for details.
Applying for a student grant is easy!
Step 1: Come up with an idea that will help many students or the entire school.
Step 2: Apply online at mertonpto.org > Forms > Student Grants by 5:00 p.m. on May 6, 2022. A parent can help.
Step 3: By the end of May, PTO will determine which student’s grants are approved!
Staff Appreciation Week is May 2nd
Your PTO has a week-long event planned for our awesome Staff! If you can help with our lunch on Tuesday, May 3rd, please see the link below. The week of May 2nd is a great time for students to bring in cards to show their appreciation!!
Career Day is Friday, May 13th
Merton Intermediate School will be hosting a half day career event on Friday, May 13, 2022. The event will take place between 8:30 - 11:30 at Merton Intermediate School. We are seeking professionals to participate in either of the following options that day:
Speaking to students during 25 minute sessions about your career and highlighting the opportunities of your career field or company
Conducting Mock-Interviews with 6th - 8th grade students using provided questions.
We are hoping to give students an opportunity to explore a wide variety of career fields, so please consider sharing your time and expertise with our students!
All questions & interest can be sent to Jackie Krajewski at krajewskij1@merton.k12.wi.us.
Thank you for your consideration.

Homework Club
Homework Club is up and running on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school. Homework Club is held in the library from 4:15-5:15 and is a chance for students to work on their homework, work on group assignments, or get organized. There is no need to sign up and all are welcome to attend.
No requests for homework in advance of vacations
Dousman Transport is hiring bus drivers
As we look forward to future staffing and the possibility of some driver retirements, we were hoping that you could run a notice for “driving the bus” in your weekly newsletter or other forms of parent/community communication publications. The bus driving opportunity is perfect for stay at home moms, retirees, and others who work part time or have mornings or afternoons free.
