Message from Mr. Imbusch

Dear students, staff, and parents/guardians:

This Saturday, November 11th, is Veteran's Day. Our schools will observe this day tomorrow, Friday 10th, and there will be no school. This is a time for all of us to pay respect to those who have served in our military. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those family members who have served, for your patriotism, your love of country, and your willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good.

We will hold our annual parent/teacher conferences next Thursday, November 16th from 5-8 PM and Monday, November 20th from 4-6:30 PM. Conferences will be held by appointment only. Please see the email sent to parents yesterday to access the website, and choose 'Click HERE for the list of teachers' on the left. Each teacher has their own google doc. where you can sign up. Please do not move another attendee. Report Cards will be issued on November 14th.

Veterans Day

On Veterans Day, November 11th, at 11 AM there will be a service for our Walpole veterans downtown at the flagpole. All students and families are welcome and encouraged to support our veterans.

Walpole Public Schools Multilingual Learner Parent Advisory Council (MLPAC)

As the month of November has many conference nights for parents/guardians, we will not have a formal MLPAC meeting this month. Instead, we will have a Drop-In Night for any parent/guardian of a multilingual learner who would like to stop by the high school to ask a question or share a suggestion with regard to the English Language Education (ELE) program or MLPAC.

TIME: Stop by the school anytime between 6:00 - 7:00 P.M. if you would like to ask a

AP Precalculus

All Algebra 2 students have recently received information about this new course offering. During Conferences, there will be information sessions for families of juniors on Thursday 11/16 at 5:00 and 6:45 and on Monday 11/20 at 4:00 and 5:30. Each session will last about 15 minutes, with time for questions. All students who have completed Algebra 2 can experience success in this course and potentially earn college credit. If you are unable to attend a session but have questions, please reach out to Jon Ridolfi, Math Department Chair, at jridolfi@walpole.k12.ma.us.

Drama Club

WHS Drama will be presenting its fall musical, "Annie" on November 17th and 18th at 7:00 PM, and November 19th at 2:00 PM in the Walpole High School Auditorium. Tickets are $12 online and $15 at the door. To purchase tickets, visit https://our.show/whsdrama/annie-2023. We hope to see you there!

WHS UNICEF Club

November 20th is World Children’s Day. Please join us on Monday, 11/20 in the support of children’s rights by wearing blue: For every child, for every right.

UNICEF members will be selling blue ribbons for $1 at all three lunches next week and during parent teacher conferences on Monday, 11/20. Proceeds will be donated to UNICEF. We would love your support.

WHS PM Club

Students interested in joining us on our quarter 2 outing should come to the interest/planning meeting on Tuesday, November 14th after school in Señora Bacon's classroom, room 1319. Fun was had by all who attended the quarter 1 trip to the New England Aquarium.

The Searchlight

The Searchlight has published their first newspaper of the year! Staff members mailed the newspapers this week and they should be arriving to families soon. This publication covers new staff members, WHS's Special Olympics recognition, resume building, the Eras Tour movie, and more! You can read the October issue here. Humane Society

The WHS Humane Society is excited to announce the 2024 Pets of Walpole High Calendar fundraiser. Please submit photos of your pets (all types of animals are welcome and encouraged!) and purchase a copy of the calendar of your own. Calendars will be in before the Holiday break and all submissions and orders should be submitted by the end of November. All proceeds are donated to local animal shelters. Last year's calendar raised $800 for needy animals! We can't wait to show off your fur babies! (See Flyer Attached)

Community Service Club

The Community Service Club is running a food drive to benefit the Walpole Food Pantry! Collection boxes will be in the front lobby starting Wednesday, November 1st, and running through Friday, November 17th. Some products we’re looking for include: canned goods; pasta; rice; paper products such as napkins, paper towels, plates, bowls, and toilet paper; and hygiene products such as soap, hand sanitizer, and toothbrushes. Any contributions are greatly appreciated– Thank you so much!

Yearbook Announcement for the Class of 2024

The final deadline for the senior pages is the Senior Survey. This needs to be completed by the graduating senior.

If the senior wants to include activities, a memory, or a senior quote, they MUST complete the senior survey by November 10th.

Speech and Debate Team

Congratulations to the Walpole Speech Team for competing in their first Massachusetts tournament of the year! They placed 4th in the large school division ranking of schools!
