On Monday, Northeast will be practicing an ALICE Drill. ALICE stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate. We practice these drills to ensure that we are prepared in the event of an intruder in the school. Officer Piantedosi has visited all classrooms, PreK-Grade 5, to prepare students for this drill. This is our announced drill. In the Spring we will have an unannounced ALICE Drill.

The Northeast Winter Concert is this Wednesday, December 14th. The concert will be held in the Gym. Visitors attending the concert will enter through the Gym doors. Grades 3-5, including orchestra and band will perform at 9:30am. Grades K-2 will perform at 10:30am. Please remember that parking is tight at Northeast. You may park in the parent pick up line, on Warwick Ave or on Doty St. The Gym doors will open at 9:20am. We look forward to seeing you!

Vacant Positions

We are currently looking to fill two part-time positions. We are in need of a Lunch/Recess Monitor. The hours are Monday - Friday from 11:45am-1:45pm. We are also in need of a Front Desk Security Monitor. The hours are Wednesday from 11:45am - 3:15pm, and Thursday/Friday from 8:15am - 3:15pm. Once again, Northeast will be participating in the One Waltham Food Drive organized by FitzGerald Elementary School Principal, Jennifer Santillo. There will be a box in the lobby of Northeast to collect donated items. All of the Waltham Public Schools will be participating and we are hoping to support over 750 families this holiday season. Donations can be dropped off from Monday, December 5th through Tuesday, December 20th. Thank you!

One Waltham Food Drive 2022

We have had many students coming into school sick. This is a reminder to keep your child home for the following reasons:

• temperature (without the use of medication) of 100 or greater
• vomiting or diarrhea in the past 24 hours
• any question of contagious illness such as Strep Throat, RSV, Flu, Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye), etc.
• if placed on antibiotics, children should remain on them for 24 hours prior to returning to school

Wednesday is School Spirit Day! Show your Northeast Pride by wearing your Northeast t-shirt or other gear. You can also wear blue and yellow!

The Waltham Public Schools have made some changes to elementary school schedules to allow for equitable specialist time for all students. Please see the letter, including a schedule, from Mr. Douglas Trudeau, Director of Fine and Performing Arts, which explains the schedule changes and the days they will occur. We will send reminders when the changes are happening so that students will be prepared with sneakers on Physical Education days, instruments on Music Days and Library books on Library days.

Northeast Free Little Library is up! Northeast now has a Free Little Library (near the gym entrance) -- please feel free to take a book, leave a book, or just check it out!

If you have any books you'd like to donate, you can also drop them to Daniella Ricci (Circle Drive) -- Daniella has offered to collect book donations, as well as make sure it remains stocked.
