Dear Hyde-Addison ES Families,

Thank you to all of the families who supported or attended International Night. The turnout was phenomenal. We look forward to seeing you at Math Night on December 7, 2023, at 5:30pm, following the in-person PTA meeting at 5:00pm.

Last year, we were able to donate a total of nearly 300 hats, scarves and pairs of gloves, for those in need. Please help us continue our community service efforts this year. Information is below in the newsletter.

Please be on the lookout for a standalone newsletter that is slated to come out Monday, December 4. This will list and link to opportunities that are offered after school for students.

When the temperature or climate determines that indoor arrival is necessary, the field will not be available for family supervised play at 8:00am and students will be asked to go directly to the cafeteria/gym at 8:10am.

At dismissal time, families should go to the building door (from the playground) to give their child's name to the staff member at the door beginning at 3:20pm so that they can be sent down to that door, directly. At 3:30pm, remaining students will be taken to the main entrance to be picked up from late dismissal and all other building doors will be closed.

Each year, DCPS asks all families to complete the Impact Aid survey to generate additional federal funds for DCPS. The surveys will be fully electronic using the Seamless platform.

Not only is December 7 the (rescheduled) Math Night, it’s also when we plan to hold a short PTA general meeting and another restaurant night at Mono All About Burger! Join us in person from 5:00 p.m. – 5:20 p.m. for the first general PTA meeting the year. Following Math Night, gather with friends and meet new ones for dinner at Mono All About Burger, located around the corner on Wisconsin Avenue, for our second restaurant night of the year. 25% of proceeds from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. will come back to the school. You must present a printed copy of the attached flyer in order to participate. Please note, no peanut oil is used at this location of AAB.

A very big thank you to all of the families, teachers, and staff who purchased popcorn and/or helped sell popcorn through their family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers last week. We’re grateful for the collective efforts of our school community which helped us raise funds to close the gap between the school’s budget and the money provided by DCPS this year.

The PTA’s Gala Committee is in the early planning stages of a very fun spring event, the first of its kind at Hyde since 2019! If you have connections to or suggestions for venues, please reach out to Crystal Rosario (crystal.rosario@gmail.com) and Tami Twyman (Tami.Twyman@gmail.com).

You can view the new items that have been added to our online shop (including winter hats and patches) at https://hydeaddisondc.org/pta. School ends at 3:25pm and students are late being picked up after 3:30pm. Please be reminded that early dismissal ends at 2:50pm and we must clear the field for aftercare students to use.
