From the Hawk Nest

We had a wonderful turnout for our Fall Festival last Friday! I saw tons of smiles and heard a lot of giggles as the children were maneuvering in and out of the school to participate in the games and activities. A huge thank you to all of the volunteers and our H.E.L.P. Group for the countless hours of dedication for all of our students.

With Saturday's Michigan vs. Michigan State football game, we've decided to show support of our favorite team by wearing blue and yellow for Michigan or green and white for State, tomorrow (Friday). This should be fun!

Halloween at Harvey Swanson is going to be great! We will have a parade that will begin at 10:00 and lead through town. We'll wrap around the fire station and head back to Harvey Swanson in time for classroom parties. PLEASE REMEMBER: Monday is a half day and dismissal is 12:10 pm.

When planning costumes for your child, please keep in mind we have younger students in the building. We remind the students each day that school is a safe place and keeping with that theme, please do not send in pretend weapons or wear gory or violent costumes (this also includes blood.) It will scare some of our students and we want this to be a fun event for all. As always, we thank you in helping keep activities appropriate and exciting for all ages of our students.

We're still collecting cans and non-perishable food items for those in need. At this point, Mrs. Davert's class is in the lead! Keep collecting and sending in your items until Friday, November 11th.

Just a reminder...The orders will be due on October 31. The products will be ready for delivery back to you by November 18 just in time for the holidays.

Please keep in mind that many teachers would love the opportunity to discuss the on goings of the day with you at pick-up time. The challenge becomes they need the end of the day to clean-up from the day and prepare for the following day. If you would like to discuss items about your child, you are always welcome to call or e-mail to have these conversations at a time that works best for everyone.
