Harrison School Library News
November 2019
Welcome!
This 1st trimester newsletter showcases research tips/resources, recommended books, skills we have been learning in the Harrison library, and other library news. Enjoy!
As a reminder, the link to our circulation system, Destiny Discover, can be found on Classlink or here.
Research Resources
Britannica School and PebbleGo are both GREAT resources for students to use when beginning to research a topic. Britannica School, our online encyclopedia, is perfect for students in grades 3-8. It has multiple reading levels of articles and has the capability of reading the text out loud. PebbleGo is appropriate for students in K-3 and is super easy to use. Check both out through Classlink!
Epic! Books is also a great resource for nonfiction books to use during research units.
I would LOVE to collaborate with classroom teachers to help teach research units! Please let me know if you have an upcoming unit that you'd like help planning, teaching, or getting resources together.

New & Noteworthy Books
Bubble Gum Brain
"Meet Bubble Gum Brain and Brick Brain: two kids with two very different mindsets. Bubble Gum Brain likes to have fun adventures, learn new things, and doesn't worry about making great mistakes. Brick Brain is convinced that things are just fine the way they are and there's not much he can do to change them, so why try? When Bubble Gum Brain shows Brick Brain how to peel off his wrapper, Brick Brain begins to realize just how much more fun school...and life... can be!"--Back cover.
Mindset Matters
"At the first sign of trouble, Amelia frets she's a failure. But she soon learns that success has many definitions. "Mindset Matters" teaches children how to see problems and dilemmas as opportunities to learn and grow and reveals why failing doesn't make them failures"--Provided by publisher.
