LCAP Mid-Year Update
The Los Altos School District Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) includes initiatives to meet the district's goals to prepare students for high school and beyond by equipping them with the skills and mindsets needed to excel.
The LCAP update highlights the plan's goals and measures progress to achieving those goals. It also highlights the actions the district takes to achieve those goals, including initiatives and the related budget expenditure.
The updated plan provided year to date metrics for the district's four LCAP goals:
Ensure all students have access to equitable conditions for learning
All LASD students will experience high quality instruction that results in equitable outcomes and expected yearly growth
Provide tiered supports and systems that promote and sustain strong academic growth and positive social/emotional development for all students
Ensure a safe, healthy, and respectful school environment to maintain engagement, involvement, and satisfaction of students, staff, and parents
While the ongoing impacts of the COVID-19 Pandemic have presented many challenges for the first half of this school year, LASD is committed to implementing our LCAP to provide the necessary services to our students. The district has made progress towards its goals and will continue to work towards 100% achievement despite obstacles. We thank our entire school community of principals, teachers, support staff, parents, and students for working together to continue academic excellence for all children in our schools.

Citizens' Advisory Committee on Finance Report
The Citizens' Advisory Committee on Finance, or CACF, reviews long-term district financial issues, including facilities needs; monitors expenditures of parcel tax funds; and makes recommendations on major, long-term financial decisions to the Board. The CACF is composed of local residents with an interest in the fiscal health of the school district.
The CACF Report noted the strong fiscal health of the district. Revenue trends are strong and the operating finances are in excellent shape. The report noted the challenges with staff recruitment and retention, as well as a decline in enrollment. While these challenges are occurring throughout the State of California, and the committee recommended investigating these issues.
CACF noted that the sound fiscal position of the district provided opportunities to address current and future challenges

Universal Meals for All Plan
In the upcoming 2022-23 school year, LASD will provide free meals to all students per California Assembly Bill 130. The Board discussed the plan to implement the free meals program, including facilities modifications, staffing and expenditures.
The requirements of the program are to provide free meals to all who want it, without advanced signup. Breakfast and lunch that meets federal nutrition guidelines and standards will be served.
LASD is on its way to successfully implementing this free meals program as the only meal program for all students for the upcoming 2022-23 school year. For more information, check out item H.6.
Superintendent Search
Following the retirement announcement of Superintendent Jeffrey Baier, the Board is launching a thorough search for a new Superintendent. To ensure a smooth process that engages our community and includes the voices of parents, teachers and staff, the Board of Trustees voted to hire Leadership Associates to assist with our Superintendent search.
The Superintendent search will begin immediately with community engagement and an anticipated hire in the Spring of 2022. Mr. Baier’s last day as superintendent will be June 30, 2022.
Please stay tuned for more information and an opportunity to share your opinions regarding the desired characteristics in a new Superintendent for our schools. For more information, check out item H.8. on our agenda online.
