OCDE Cyber Bullying Prevention
In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, the Orange County Department of Education Bullying Prevention Program will be hosting a virtual parent presentation focused on social media trends, information literacy, privacy, and security, addressing and reporting cyberbullying, and parent/child communication.
In our ever-changing world with a lot of time being spent on digital devices, it is important to keep the conversation going about what parents can do to support their children in the complex environment of online learning and socializing.
Cyberbullying and Digital Drama: Keeping Kids Safe, Happy, and Healthy in the Digital Age will be held via Zoom on May 16, 2023, from 6:00-7:00 p.m.
Interpretation will be offered in Spanish, Vietnamese, and Mandarin.
To register, please visit: http://ocde.k12oms.org/1378-231454
Zoom information will follow.
If you have any questions, please contact Jacquie Johnson, Project Liaison, at 714-966-4473 orjacquiejohnson@ocde.us.

SBAC State Testing
State testing will begin on Wednesday, April 26th through Thursday, May 25th. All students are assessed in English-Language Arts and Mathematics. 8th-grade grade students will also take the California Science Test. Students will take one assessment per week and will test with their teacher. For example, students will complete both English-Language Arts assessments with their English teacher, during their regular class period.
During testing, we ask that families try to schedule appointments outside of the school day as much as possible. We hope having the calendar in advance will help in your planning. Included in this newsletter you will find both the testing calendar and testing bell schedule. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Ozuna at kozuna@orangeusd.org.
Thank you for your support!
Reminders
We need everyone to take a few minutes to review page 9 of their Binder Reminder. El Rancho’s Uniform Policy states that Crocs and hooded sweatshirts are not allowed. Wearing a long sleeve and/or hoodie under your uniform is not allowed. Students caught violating either of these rules will be issued lunch detention. Please do your part and follow the school uniform policy. Thank you, Coyotes!
Also, students should not order food to be delivered, or have food delivered from others, from delivery services like Uber Eats, Door Dash, Grub Hub, etc... Students who have food delivered have also used their phones during school hours, which is not allowed, and will be given a consequence.
School Food and Drink Policy
As a reminder, only water is allowed in our classrooms. Students may not bring Starbucks or any other beverages or food into the classroom. Students will be asked to leave their drinks outside or in a location where they will not be spilled in the classroom.
Staff Coyote of the Month
To be eligible for a Staff of the Month Award, an employee must demonstrate one or more of the following traits:
C: Compassion, Character, and Community

Tutorial Menu for April 12th and 13th
Students who are stamped by their teacher must attend that tutorial session. If stamped by multiple teachers, the subject that has priority that day takes precedence.
Students who have C grades or better, are not stamped by a teacher, and do not have any detention stamps, can go to PE or the lunch benches to complete homework. It is the student's responsibility to check their grades prior to Tutorial.
Students have a 5-minute passing period to get to their tutorial room. Once students arrive at their Tutorial destination, they stay there for the entire 30 minutes. Please use the menu below to make a plan for this week!
