ESOL ACCESS Testing

Your child has been working hard all year to progress in his/her reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills, and we are so proud of each child's hard work.

Between January 12 and February 27, each child will be tested in the areas of reading, writing, speaking, and listening using the WIDA ACCESS ESOL test. The results of this test will determine each child's placement and ESOL eligibility for the next academic year (2015-2016).

We look forward to seeing each child's progress!

Eat a Healthy Breakfast

Children who eat a healthy breakfast do better in school. Some breakfast ideas include:

oatmeal with granola and nuts
whole grain, low-sugar cereal
yogurt with fruit
eggs
whole wheat toast with peanut butter

Stay Calm

Remind your child to:

take his time
take deep breaths if he gets nervous
just do his best!

10 Hours of Sleep

Ensure that your child is getting at least 10 hours of sleep a night. Sleep is important for:

your child's healthy development
thinking clearly
solving problems

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on February 12 and 13.

February 12: 1:30 pm to 7:30 pm
February 13: 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm

discuss your child's progress

Valentine's Day Celebration

Valentine's Day Celebrations will be held in your child's classroom on Friday, February 13. If your child decides to bring in valentine cards, please make sure he/she brings in a card for every student in the class. Your child should have brought home a class list. Please contact your child's teacher if you do not have a class list. Happy Valentine's Day!
