Welcome to the 2022-23 School year
This newsletter contains important information! Our goal is to answer as many questions as possible, keep you informed, and ease your mind so you experience a smooth start to the school year. This may be a good time to start a file for Navigator Notables. You may need to refer to this Back-To-School Edition more than once. Each month our newsletter is available online at our website.

Enrollment Verification Process for 2022-23 School Year
Each year, families will update their contact information, purchase school picture packages and receive other important information through the Enrollment Vertification Process in MISTAR. Here are the directions as well as directions (if needed) for this process:

First Day of School
School will start on Monday, August 29. Our first day will be a half day with classes beginning at 8:40 a.m. and ending at 12:13 p.m. Students may arrive as early as 8:30 am. Prior to that time, no supervision is available. Children that need to arrive prior to 8:30 am should be signed up for Latchkey.
Students will arrive to school by bus or dropped off. The bus loop is located behind the building and students enter through the Fine Arts wing. Families choosing to drop off their child will use the drop off loop in the parking lot at the front of the school. Please enter the parking lot in front of Pathfinder loop around the parking lot and after dropping off your child in front of the school, please exit through driveway in front in Navigator.

School Hours
- Monday-Thursday school hours will be 8:40 a.m. – 3:44 p.m.
- Fridays, students will be dismissed at 2:25 p.m.
- Half days, students will be dismissed at 12:13 p.m.
Our office hours will be 7:50 a.m. – 4:20 p.m. Monday through Thursday and Friday 7:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Procedures for Morning Arrival and After School Dismissal
Parent/Guardian Drop Off: Parents will use the front parking lot to drop off students starting at 8:30 am. Staff will be helping students get to their classrooms. Students will make their way to their class.
Bus Drop off: Starting at 8:30 am, buses will release students. Each bus will dismiss one at a time at the south entrance (Fine Arts wing).After School Dismisal
Parent/Guardian Pick-up: We will continue to have parents pick up curbside in the front parking lot. Each car picking up student(s) will be given a window sign indicating your child’s teacher and last name. As cars arrive for pick up, they will form two parallel lines at the curb in front of Navigator.

All specials classes are located in the Fine Arts wing (located in the space between Navigator and Pathfinder.

Are You Hungry? It’s Lunchtime!
ARAMARK is meal provider for the district. So, what’s for lunch? Monthly lunch menus is posted on the Pinckney Community Schools website. All of the lunch choices meet federal nutrition guidelines. No chips, candy bars, or pop will be served, as they go against what we know is nutritious, healthy, and developmentally appropriate for a growing pre-adolescent body.
Lunch and milk prices for the 2022-23 school year are as follows:
- Lunch is $2.85
- Milk $.55.
- Breakfast Free for the 2022-23 school year.

For those students that forget their lunch or lunch money, ARAMARK will provide a snack of cheese, crackers and fruit at no cost. If this situation occurs, students should let a lunchroom supervisor know so assistance can be given.
Information about our food service program, Aramark, as well as monthly menus can be located through the district website on the Food Service page.
There will be two lunch periods, one for each grade level. Students will have recreation time before or after lunch depending on their classroom schedule. Students will have a 20 minute lunchtime and 20 minute recreation time during this 40 minute block. Fourth grade lunch recess/recreation time is 11:00 -11:40 am and 5th grade time is 11:50 - 12:30 pm. All students will be supervised by recess and lunch supervisors.
We are always looking for parents, grandparents, aunts/uncles to particpate within the school as lunch/recess supervisors. If you are interested please reach out to Heather or Bridgette in our office at (810) 225-5300.
Latchkey
Before and after school care providing caring supervision, activities for fun and learning, arts and crafts projects, supervised homework time. Latchkey is a service that provides child care for school-aged children before and after the school day. A variety of educational and recreational activities are included in the program. Our goal is to be able to offer the community a safe, educational, and loving environment.
Latchkey in the Pinckney School District is a self-supporting program dependent on tuition fees to meet operational costs. There is an annual $75.00 registration fee for the school year and an additional $50.00 for the summer program per family. This registration fee covers the Latchkey Program. Elementary latchkey fees are $10.00 for each session for the first child in the family and $9:00 for each additional child in the same family for elementary students. Navigator Latchkey hours of operation are 6:15 to 8:30 am and 3:30 to 6:15 pm. Latchkey is in operation on all scheduled school days, early release Friday and for half-day coverage. The cost for early release Friday afternoon is $10.00 for AM session, $9.00 for siblings, $12.00 for PM session for all children. For half-day sessions, AM $10.00, $9.00 for siblings, PM $22.00 for siblings additional child in the same family.

Child Find
Each school building in the Pinckney Community School District has a Child Study Team / Response to Intervention process in place, which is a vehicle for staff members to review student performance, concerns, and collaboratively develop interventions. If you have concerns about your child’s development and are interested in more information on special services, contact his/her building Principal.
