A Message from FBAVI
This past year has been one of transition. With limited ability to connect in person with live events, the postponing of our FBA Awards Night, we focused on providing relevant topics to help you and your organizations grow. In addition, the transition learning series well received with very valuable sharing of transitions from one generation to another.
There are four months remaining in this calendar year and what a great time to revisit your vision, mission and core values. Is it still relevant? Do you need a little updating? Where are you at with your goals and strategy? Need to make sure you team is aligned and ready to have a strong last quarter?
Here at FBAVI we are ready to bring valuable content for your growth, greater focus on the importance of FBAT and continue to build the membership with vibrant and diverse family businesses. Our 2021-22 year is just getting started and we look forward to sharing more details in the upcoming weeks.
PROGRAMMING & EVENTS
FBA is committed to keeping our members and guests safe by following COVID-19 guidelines. We are just working on the fall and winter line-up and welcome your input. We hope to have a combination of Virtual and Live Events. Look for some upcoming updates as we finalize these plans.
The Transition Group Series was a tremendous success in 2021. We are looking for other family businesses who are in the process or completed a transition from one generation to the next. This series will run from January to April. Please contact Bryan at fba@familybusinessassocationvi.ca for additional information.

Paid Sick Leave On-line Survey - BC Government
Our government is currently conducting a public consultation on permanent paid sick leave to replace the temporary COVID-related paid sick leave brought in this year. These consultations will help determine the length of paid sick leave and other related benefits. Your voice and experience are important, and I hope you will participate. There are two opportunities to have your voice heard:
First, please consider filling out the Paid Sick Leave Online Survey by 4pm on Tuesday September 14th. Second, on September 20th, the BC Government will release proposed models for our permanent paid sick leave program on the Government Engagement website. Make sure to review and comment on the models when they’re released.
BC will be the first province in Canada to create a system for paid leave for illness or injury – help us get it right.
