District Calendar | West Ada School District

Parents Pine St. from Meridian Rd. to 1st Street, will be closed for maintenance all next week. Our parent pick up loop will be open. Please plan ahead as it will take more time to get everyone in and out.

Our trunk or treat event is Oct. 31st. We will also be holding a raffle event and PTO is putting on a bake sale. We look forward to seeing you there.

Please help our special education department by filling the box with candy. The candy will be given out to students at the Trunk or Treat. The box is located in the front lobby of the school.

Oct. 13-16 students will receive the book Chocolate Fever in an envelope with activities and a calendar. Read this together as a family and complete the activities that come with the book. Dates for the first couple of weeks. Oct. 16-22 Read chapters 1-3. Return paper on Oct. 23. Oct. 23-29th Read chapters 4-6. Return paper comprehension questions on Oct. 30th. Oc.t 30-Nov. 5 Read 7-9.

You have not seen your kids' jacket in a while? Come check out our lost and found. It is getting full. Clothes that do not get picked up will be donated. We will be cleaning it out every quarter. The students know where it is come look through it. The quarter is over so come and claim your stuff soon.

General Community Schools info: We are in need of size 5T-6/7 boys' and girls' pants and gently used shoes of all sizes. If you happen to be cleaning out your closets soon, we will graciously take those items off your hands!

Behavior: Parents, if you are curious about strategies for managing behavior, we have a opportunity for you to learn from an expert and ask your questions. Save the date and we will see you there!

Food Drive: Meridian Elementary is hosting a food drive to help out the Salvation Army Boise Corps during the month of October. If you have any cans of food to spare, or other non-perishable food items, you can send them with your students or drop them off in the Salvation Army bin located by the front office until October 23rd. Tis the season of giving back!

Diaper Drive: Join us 10/16 - 10/27 for our Annual Diaper Drive. Idaho Diaper Bank supports many West Ada Families each year and the Community Schools want to show our gratitude and support by giving back! You can drop diapers off at our Community School building any time during school hours. Check out JustServe.org for an Amazon link to send diapers at your convenience. Thank you!

Clubhouse is in full swing at Meridian Elementary! Clubhouse is an opportunity for students to come play board games with their grade level peers during lunch recess while being supervised by our School Counselor, Mr. Snell. Each grade level has one day per week that is their Clubhouse day. Kinders and 2nd Graders are on Mondays, 4th and 5th Graders are on Wednesdays, and 1st and 3rd Graders are on Fridays. Clubhouse is a great way for students to make new friends and practice social skills with their peers!

Having good hygiene habits involves more than just hand-washing. Teaching your kids to have a healthy hygiene routine when they’re young can create habits that last throughout their lives. We are also entering cold and flu season so its extra important to follow good hygiene habits.

• Have your student(s) wash their hands as soon as they get home
• wash hair two or three times per week
  
• Bath or shower daily
• Use a washcloth and soap to wash
• Brush teeth twice a day
• Wash hands before and after meals

Parents please make sure your student is coming to school with a jacket or warm clothes. Dressing in layers works well this time of year. It is really cold in the mornings and can get warm in the afternoon. We are seeing many students outside that are too cold to play. If you need assistance getting warm clothes check in with our community school.

Did you know that Fridays are spirit days? This is your chance to wear spirit wear like school t-shirts or school colors. Our colors are blue and yellow. Let's show our trailblazer pride.

Our district has partnered with tutor.com. This is a free online tutoring service offered by the district for students in grades 3-12. This service has individualized help for tutoring and homework. Visit the districts website for more information.
