In a remarkable alignment of numbers, Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123 recently celebrated its inaugural Select 123 breakfast, honoring 23 exemplary students from the district who are not only part of District 123, but also represent the graduating class of 2023.

Fifth graders traveled back in time on their recent field trip to Naper Settlement. Naper Settlement is an outdoor history museum that offers intreactive exhibits. Students witnessed a demonstration of forging iron in the Blacksmith Shop, a one room school house where students got to witness how learning was like in the 1850s.
Mr. Adams has taught Entrepreneurship for over five years, and he has introduced the famous "Shark Tank" project to his students every year. The "Shark Tank" project was introduced to students at the beginning of the trimester, which consisted of students picking and creating a business from scratch.
The OLHMS 8th graders are on their way to high school! This past week, the oldest Mustangs were able to celebrate their accomplishments throughout their middle school careers. On Thursday, May 25th, Mustangs headed to Six Flags for the annual 8th grade trip.
With grade level picnics, field day, 5th grade recoginition, and end of the year countdowns taking place, the end of the school year is always busy for students and teachers. In order to slow down and reflect, we dedicated some time to our end of the year Hannum Growth Parade.
On Thursday, May 25, Kolmar chorus, 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders performed in their spring concert. Everyone did an amazing job! They sang beautifully and followed the choreography wonderfully! Each group sang a few songs and had some sort of choreography. There were also many musical instruments involved.
Enrolling in Kindergarten is an exciting time for families. On May 24th, Mrs. Jensen and Mrs. Derus hosted Sward's Kindergarten Orientation. These future Sward families participated in informational sessions of what to expect in Kindergarten. The highlight of the event was the students officially "signing on," committing to being part of Sward Elementary School.
