In line with the move to remove public health restrictions by the Government of Alberta, Elk Island Catholic Schools will now invite spectators to our gymnasiums and schools to watch sports events beginning Thursday, February 17, 2022. We encourage families to sit together as a group and masks are still required for all adults in conjunction with current provincial public health regulations. To keep up to date on all the guidelines in the EICS 2022 School Plan, please refer to the EICS School Plan

As part of the Elk Island Catholic School Assurance process, we would like to invite you to participate in a survey already sent to you through an email:

Results from this survey will be used to inform planning at the school and divisional level for the 2022/2023 school year. This survey is provided to all grade 4-12 students, all staff, and all parents in our division.

The survey will remain open until Friday, February 25. Thank you for your participation.

2021/22 Alberta Education Assurance (AEA) Survey

If you have a child in grade 4, 7, or 10, you may receive a survey from Alberta Education after February 14th and closes March 25th. Please watch for this. We would encourage you to complete both surveys. Students in Grades 7 and 10 will also complete these surveys as well.

To promote traffic flow and increase safety, traffic leaving the S student parking lot will no longer have the option of turning left. This will take effect MONDAY morning. This will be in effect on operational school days only. We appreciate your understanding with this and your continued patience. Thank you parents/guardians and HS students for continuing to yield to our student pedestrian traffic and all school buses.

Two grade seven ELA classes are reading the novel Underground to Canada. Mrs. Ganske shared an Underground Railroad quilt that her mother made. Each square has symbols that were used to guide slaves to freedom in Canada.

A brief note about attendance: Because it is the school that determines what code goes in powerschool for an absence (Excused, Unexcused, Ill, etc) please include information in any messages as to why your child is away. Also, a reminder that our new Attendance Policy is now in place. Thank you.

Consistent attendance is a key to successful learning. OLMP has revised it's attendance policy to better reflect the Education Act. We will be putting this into effect on February 1st, with the belief that a more structured approach will support student success. Please review the document.

U of A (Augustana) is hosting a virtual Medical Science Workshop! Goal is to expose high school students to the field of medicine by providing them with hands-on activities and access to an esteemed panel of professionals where they can get all their questions answered! $20 fee
