A Look Into Our Panther Community!
POSTIVE OFFICE REFERRALS
General Music
Students in Mrs. Rahusen's 6th-grade music class are working on their "Modern Band Project". They got to pick either Ukulele, Guitar, Keyboard, or Bucket Drums and make a band with their classmates! Students choose the song, instrumentation, musical genre, and they got to arrange the song however they like. This project gets students working with their musical instruments in a way that teaches collaboration and creativity!
7th Grade Science
Embedded within the NGSS curriculum are science and engineering principles which encourage hands on learning experiences for students. Pictured are Ms. Cates' 7th grade science students working on an activity in which they were tasked with creating earthquake-proof structures. Students were given limited knowledge and were encouraged to work with their team to design a preliminary model only using gum drops, spaghetti and tape; with the goal of the structure being 60 cm tall. On day 2, we completed our structures, then tested their stability using cardboard to simulate an earthquake!
8th Grade Science
Mrs. Reilly's 8th grade scientists are using bean plants as they work on designing valid scientific experiments.
Congrats to our Band, Jazz Band and Chorus Students!
EHMS Drama Club - Guys & Dolls!
We explained to the students during rehearsal that crew would not be needed until mid-February at the earliest. As we grow closer to that time, we will make sure to post the exact date we want them to start attending rehearsals.
As for the cast, Mrs. Rahusen or Mrs. Werme will post who they need for the following week via Parentsquare and Google Classroom before the following week begins. Assume that if you are in the cast, you will be needed every rehearsal.
*You can click on the flyer to the right to access the schedule for the remainder of the year. (Schedule is subject to change)
*Rehearsals will immediately follow the school day and meet either in the library or music room (students will be made aware of location).
*Be sure to send your child with a water bottle, pencil, snacks, and their script.
Rehearsals are going Great!!

Important Attendance Reminder
A reminder that the following email addresses can be used by parents to report and document their approval of an absence:
Memorial_Attendance@easthamptonct.org
Center_Attendance@easthamptonct.org
EHMS_Attendance@easthamptonct.org
EHHS_Attendance@easthamptonct.org
If you have successfully emailed the school, you will receive an autoreply that notifies you that the absence communication has been received and recorded. This process is effective for your child for the first 9 absences. After your student has more than 9 absences, additional documentation or communication is required to excuse the absence. However, please continue to use the email designated for your child's school to continue to notify the school that your child will be absent. You may call your child’s school at any time to report an absence but please make sure to follow up a phone call with a note or email to the attendance email.
Take a Virtual Visit to our Library Media Center
The student Mural Project is complete and almost ready to start traveling to the Town Hall, East Hampton Public Library, and the Middle Haddam Library for display to the community. Many students contributed their time. Only one student at a time could work on each piece as this project took place during our initial Covid time together. It was a collaborative effort while we all maintained physical separation.
Therapy Dog Lady Juno visited with students during FLEX making a great start to the day!
Parents and staff donated some beautiful books to the library which will greatly enhance the library collection. Donations are appreciated. Ms. Fielding previews books and sends them to the appropriate school libraries in the district. A new puzzle table area is hosting a popular 500-piece United States of Football puzzle. Students, Aehan Amith and Alyssa Arnold, love to relax and read in the comfy sitting area.
Library Volunteen, Lexi Markham, is mastering the challenging art of covering books for the collection. Library Volunteens, Emily Rawlinson, Joey Guiliano, and Cayden Schoonerman, decorated for Lunar New Year, festooning a display with red and gold decorations and encouraging everyone to set a New Year intention.
