School Office Reminders
- All adults who are on campus during the school day must be fingerprinted and sign in/out from the office and wear a visitor badge. This is to ensure safety and accountability should an emergency arise.
- TK and Kindergarten dismiss 10 minutes earlier than the official dismissal time (1:40 on Monday and 2:50 Tuesday-Friday)
- The back gate is locked during the school day, but will be opened 10 minutes early to allow parents entry onto campus.
- If coming to campus from the back gate during the school day, please call the office at (530) 622-0814 so that we can open the gate.
- When calling the office, please leave a message if your call is not answered. We know the importance of picking up messages to ensure students know what their plans are. Sometimes we are extremely busy or short-staffed an cannot always answer the phone, so leaving a message is important. Please contact the office before 2:30pm whenever possible to allow us time to get messages to students.
- Make sure your child's name is on their belongings so we can get lost items back to their owners.
- Please remember to clear any absence. The attendance line is (530) 622-0814 ext.7499.

Hammer Headlines
What a wonderful first week of school! It was great meeting every student during P.E. Activities will be modified based on grade level. This weeks activities were frisbee, skillastic rotations, dodgeball, stretching and running. Each month we will have a skill we are learning. For this month it is frisbee. Every week we will be doing skillastic rotations, stretching, and running. We will be rotating between dodgeball and tag games. Next week I will be awarding students up to 5 points for participation and 5 points for sportsmanship.

Library News
Hello Dragons!
What a great start we’ve had in the library. The books and I have missed you. I think almost every kiddo was able to check out a book this week. We spent some time talking about how to take care of your library book, returning library books each week to check out a new one, where to locate certain books, and how quiet we are in the library. Each student received a new book bag to keep their book safe. Inside will be a flier for parents to read about your kiddos visit to the library. I look forward to another amazing year! Remember, good things happen when you read!

It’s the start of a new school year, welcome back Dragon families! Is your little one still having a hard time saying goodbye at morning drop off? You are not alone. In fact many children are still trying to adapt to the daily structured school schedule after summer break. Fortunately, children thrive with regularity and schedules because it makes them feel safe and confident in their surroundings but adapting to a daily school schedule can take time. If your little is still having some difficulty, here are some helpful tips:
Ensure healthy eating and sleeping habits, these are key! Tired or hungry littles have an EXTRA hard time separating from caregivers
Practice bedtime, wake up and getting ready for school routines so they know what to expect each school morning
Listen and empathize with their feelings and fears, then normalize it like this “Everyone feels nervous starting something new, show me what bravery looks like!”
This is a great book called First Day Jitters by Julie Danneberg that shows children even TEACHERS can get nervous for school.
Problem-solve together; there might be a simple solution to their fear
ALWAYS focus on the positives; ask 1 thing they are looking forward to at school today or remind them of something they have enjoyed in the past
If possible, arrange to walk up the steps with a class buddy or identify an anchor in their classroom who makes them feel safe until they get more comfortable
Model CONFIDENCE & COMFORT (even if you are feeling differently inside)
Say goodbye JUST ONCE to them; long goodbyes give them a chance to have second thoughts. Typically once the caregiver leaves, the child does GREAT! We will let you know, if not❤
Be cheerful but firm and let them know you will see them soon!
After this routine of consistency and positive, quick goodbyes this new routine should become easier for them and you. I am here for you!
