PLEASE HELP WITH OUR SURVEY
Brookview is always looking for ways to better serve our students, families, and community. Please take a few moments to participate in our Climate and Culture survey that our school will be participating in starting Monday, February 18, 2019 through Friday, March 15, 2019.
Thank you very much for your time and effort in participating.
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Parents,
Let's Connect over Books
Do you know how you can build up your child's reading skills? Do you know how you can get him or her to love books? Listed below are a few suggestions.
Read with them regularly. Be intentional with reading with your child everyday. Try to aim for 10-15 minutes of bedtime reading for a peaceful end to the day.
Take books everywhere you go--on vacation, during sibling's sports practices, and keep one in the car so that your child can read during short trips to the store, school, church, etc.
Let your child participate. Encourage them to turn the pages, finish the sentences, discuss the plot and ask your child to make predictions about the ending of the story.
Be playful. Use different voices when you read, be animated and expressive to hook your child into listening and participating. Substitute the main character's name and replace them with family member names.
Be You. Please remember you do not have to be an expert reader. Your child will develop a love for reading because you are involved and you are spending time with them.
Happy Reading,
Mrs. April Price, Principal
RADCLIFFE REMINDERS
Today we live in an age where our kids are growing up learning how to read on a tablet instead of flip pages in a book. We are raising kids who are being confronted by problems we never had growing up. As our kids start to use social media and networking, we MUST teach them how to use this technology at their fingertips. I found some tips for parents to help teach our kids about their lasting Digital Fingerprint as they begin to become tweens.

BREAKFAST FOR STUDENTS
LOST AND FOUND
We currently have many personal items in the Lost and Found bins located in the school cafeteria. Please check with your child and if they are missing any clothing, jackets, lunchboxes, or other personal items, please have them check our bins.
OUTSIDE RECESS
As the weather is turning colder, please keep in mind that your child is still expected to go outside for recess. Students have a 30 minute recess each day. Every student will go outside unless there are unforeseen circumstances. Our district temperature threshold is 20 degrees for going outside with the wind chill also being taken into consideration. In other words, if the temperature is 25 but the wind chill falls below 20 degrees, students would remain indoors for recess. Recess is good for students socially and physically, however there may be times where students are not feeling well. If a parent requests that their child remain indoors, they can write a letter with that request for up to 2 days. If it is longer than 2 days, a note from a doctor will be required to keep the student in from recess. Please ensure that your child is prepared to enjoy their recess by dressing them appropriately for the colder temperatures.
HEALTHY CELEBRATIONS
While we love to celebrate, please remember that there is a
“No birthday treats" district policy. To access fun and helpful resources for healthy celebration ideas please visit the district wellness policy by clicking on this link.
